    Why are Dolphins favored?
    Are Bears a trap?

Tyler Thigpen starting....Jake Long torn labrum.

I don't see how you beat the Bears just running the ball. Bears defense is stout but if there's a weakness it's in the secondary on long passes. You can't pass and you got a lot of 3 and outs and a lot of punts to Hester.

On the other side, Miami is OK but Bears offense has really come together last couple weeks since getting Garza back.

Or maybe they just didn't want to install Bears favorite because then everyone would take Bears and books get smashed?

All of that and Miami just 1-3 at home; Bears 3-1 road.

Hard to bet Miami here I think.

      Sources: Jake Long's labrum damaged
      By Chris Mortensen
      ESPN

Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl left tackle Jake Long not only disclocated his shoulder Sunday, but he also suffered damage to his labrum during the same injury, according to team sources. AFC East blog

ESPN.com's Tim Graham writes about all things AFC East in his division blog.
      Blog network: NFL Nation

Long, who played the first month of the season with a sprained MCL in his knee, has not ruled out playing Thursday night against the Chicago Bears. He may be fitted with a shoulder harness, but he is questionable, at best, the sources said. Long played with the injury until late in the fourth quarter of the Dolphins' 29-17 victory over the Tennessee Titans. Dolphins coach Tony Sparano did not disclose many details about Long's injury but added that the former No. 1 pick was a "tough guy." Long's injury is just the latest ailment for a banged-up Dolphins team that has alternated wins and losses since a two-game losing streak in Weeks 3-4. Quarterback Chad Pennington was placed on injured reserve Monday with a shoulder injury and fellow signal caller Chad Henne suffered a knee injury against the Titans that may sideline him against the Bears. Also, like Long, AFC sack leader Cameron Wake (hip) and safety Chris Clemons (groin) finished Sunday's game on the bench. "We have a lot of guys bumped up right now," Sparano said. "We're sorting through it all." Chris Mortensen is ESPN's Senior NFL Analyst. Information from The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I have a feeling Long might play, but I'm pretty sure this is not a mere rumor? He's got brass balls to line up opposite Julius Peppers with that injury.

Ricky Williams is better than Adrian Peterson? Bears held Peterson in check.

Injury issues weren't limited to quarterback. Pro Bowl tackle Jake Long hurt his shoulder against the Titans, and his availability was uncertain. Like Long, AFC sack leader Cameron Wake (hip) and safety Chris Clemons (hamstring) finished Sunday's game on the bench.
The Dolphins listed 13 players — not including Pennington — on their injury report Monday, with Henne, Long, Clemons and center Joe Berger (knee) the most seriously hurt.

All of that on a very short week, and I don't think the Bears have much of anything at all in the way of injuries.

                What if they go 7-3?

I'm with ya, 2dbets. Bears have some issues, but they keep winning. There's no denying that.

People rag on Jay Cutler, but he's definitely better than whatever 3rd stringer Miami will suit up.

dont get me wrong. I am a Bears fan, always cheered for them (except when they play the Fish) but they aren't a good 6-3 team IMO. Cutler is ok but the defense has been the reason they are 6-3 and not 3-6 which they should be in all likelyhood. Remember week #1, they lost against the Lions at home, errrrr I mean they called that winning TD incomplete. they beat GB when they were playing bad, got embarrased at Home against the Seahawks and in NY. I am not impressed with them.

Anyways, we'll see of course. BOL Thursday

Bears don't run real well. But the O-line pass protection reputation is not what it was. They had injuries and were playing around with rotations. No doubt it is fragile and there could be problems if they have injuries, but if they stay healthy they appears to have a pretty decent lineup now to protect Cutler. And Cutler will occasionally throw a head scratcher, if you give him a chance he will make a ton of plays also and the Bears do have playmakers to catch the ball.

On defense, they are quite good. They tackle, they hit you, they fly to the ball, they are masters at stripping the ball. Peppers, Urlacher, Briggs, they got better when Bowman was benched, Major Wright now healthy and contributing. Real tough on 3rd downs. Top 5 defense IMO and they make plays.

And then you got Hester on special teams and he's still got it. They finally woke up and put him back on kickoffs last week.

Coming in with momentum and confidence facing a banged up Miami team on a short week. This is the NFL, who knows, but I like the Bears chances here.

One could quibble with some of that, but some of it is also history, look at the team NOW. They are pulling things together as opposed to some teams going in the other direction. I just think the arrow is pointing up and I wouldn't count this team out. They need the wins now because their last 4 games on the schedule are brutal and they know that.

No question the defense is the strength. The offense can be very schizophrenic. If they are clocking and protecting they can make a ton of plays. If not, they can give games away. Just think the offensive line at keats appears to be coming together now.
