I want to know how many people in this forum actually bet $1,000 or more on a game. I'm average about $1000 to $2500 per game. 2 teams parlay from $400 to $1000. Just curious.
Who bets $1,000 or more on a game?

#3Depends on the game. I'm a $100-$500 a game type, but went quite a bit higher than a $1000 on the Alabama -12 / Penn St. game.
Been paying off my loser picks in the NFL with that money since week 2.

#6NFL is it's own beast and you only get 20 weeks. I was in Vegas this summer and saw dudes betting dimes on random ass shit. I saw the dude just look at the board, decide he wanted a dime on some random ass Dodgers/Marlins under, call the teller by name he wanted a dime on the Baseball Under on a random Wed night type stuff. Even if I had 100 million dollars I just couldn't do that. Having a dime or more on an NFL GOY type situation is great and all, but betting on some random ass baseball games is crazy IMO. Plus, some of the offshore sportsbooks max out at pretty low numbers.
Dude next to me had 20 dimes on the Lesner/Carwin fight and pulled out his ticket to prove it. He wanted everybody to know he had 20,000 on Carwin ( he ended up losing).Comment -

#7One of my neighbors is and under the radar rich as shit millionare next door type guy and he bets dimes. I think he's put 40,000 down on games before. I love meeting gamblers in everyday life and exchanging stories. It's like hey, you are a degenerate too! Great bonding experience.Comment -

I gave you 10 SBR points for that one bro, I feel sorry for ya. I had the Eagles spread and know that was a BADDDDDD Beat. It was just one of those games Mcnabb never showed up for, and Jemarcus freaking Russel won literally one of the only games he's ever won in his career. The spread was like 14 points, and the oddsmakers were basically giving Oakland a 5% or less chance of winning the game.
That's one you don't forget so I hope the 10 points make you feel better.

#14So far I don't see big bettor yet.. I do bet $1000 on random shit a lot of times due to chasing losses, majority of these bets ended up loss.. IMO, do not chase. If I am patient enough to bet on games that were given to me by a buddy who has an uncle works as sportsbook's manager. His plays hit 80% of the time. He told me to bet on Houston +5.5 tonight.. I had $2k on houston tonight.Comment -

#15That's cool. July 4th is the Nation that I love's Birthday so I went out there to celebrate. The dude next to me hit up Carwin for 20 dimes and conned me into betting it. The line opened at like -200 and ended at like even money. Carwin was actually dominating the fight but got choked out. You want to know how I found out? I was in the elevator going up the Palms and the elevator guy was like MANNNNNN DID YOU SEE THAT FIGHT? I was like TELL ME TELL ME TELL ME WHO WON???? As I'm going to the club wearing a freaking Tapout shirt hahaha.Originally posted by kmarinouofmLOL july 2 is my bday and i was in vegas for this fight.. i made everyone in my crew hit lesnar for at least 100 bucks.

#18the funniest thing is you can't hit 80% even if you fix the games, that what the funniest thing is. maybe in baseball if you pitched amanda from the bad news bears but other than that it is impossible. good luck!Comment -

#19I just got my Options paperwork complete. Not that I want to buy any contracts right now, but I wanted to buy some Apple or Chipotle calls when the market was in the dumps. I can remember when CMG was at 33 bucks per share and I was like **** man, should I make it like 25% of my portfolio???? Maybe I should just buy some CMG 100 calls.... The stock is 212 now. Even if you bought like 1,000 bucks of contracts you would have made at least 20,000 bucks. Imagine if you would have put 10K or 20K into those deep out of the money calls that are now worth a shitload more?Originally posted by CappinTerpC-Gold ya goin to $ 1600 per, forget b-ball of football, buy a couple of contracts.!!Comment -

#20When I reach $1000, then I will start betting that amount per game.
Everyone should know that the books have the advantage and know that the majority of the public will lose.
I am not dumping $1000 or more on a trap bet then losing my entire bankroll.
Money management is important.
I'm betting small until I can read the lines and each team correctly each week.
Find out if you are an expert handicapper or an amateur handicapper or you will end up losing your entire bankroll. The books will always have the advantage.Comment -

#21Amounts that large scare me. My bankroll is not a lot larger than that right now, so my "unit" plays are about $50.
$2K on Houston tonight is a tough wrap, sorry to hear that....
It's weird, I have a friend who is a HUGE nfl fan, but doesn't bet and knows nothing about gambling. Sometimes I get all wrapped up in lines, movement, etc etc and overlook the big picture. I asked him about the game tonight and he said no way does Houston win. He also picked oakland, miami, jacksonville, tampa, SD, and Detroit correctly. I was impressed. I just wish I'd listened hahaComment -
