Aside from all of the over-reaction, in this particular case: Do you think that this hit would even have been discussed (aside from the "Oh Shit" factor) and subsequently fined unless all of this witch-hunting was going on?

I actually thought this might be the worst one. Despite what ESPN was saying, Jackson took like three steps with the ball and Robinson had time to get low. He was possibly trying to knock out the guy who just celebrated two touchdowns and showed up his team. It was a penalty at the time, also contrary to reports I've seen on sports center.
There were hundreds of NFL players making tackles last week. Three got fined, and after years of players laughing off fines, the NFL decided to take an actual step against players turning each others brains into mush.
