JaMarcus Russell on the comeback trail?

It sounds like JaMarcus has seen the error of his ways.. either that or he's running out of $.

Russell is now working out in Houston with former NBA coach John Lucas, who wanted to help Russell. The quarterback arrested in July when authorities alleged they seized codeine (used to concoct a drink called "purple drank") from Russell's Mobile, Ala., home.

"I went and got him," Lucas told Fox-TV in Houston. "What I saw in him was me 33 years ago when I was out in Golden State (with the Warriors). His troubles started there and so did mine after I left the Houston Rockets. I saw a lot of common denominators. We were both No. 1 picks, but JaMarcus is working hard and doing really good."

Nobody will pay him. He'll have to work himself back into the league with 1 year deals at a backup's salary until he proves himself.

My prediction, he'll maybe show up at a training camp but wash out before the final cuts. That's fairly standard for a weak comeback.

JaMarcus is NOT an NFL QB. Never will be. I would bet 1000000000 SBR points that he never STARTS another NFL game in his life. If he ever does play again it will be as a backup.

he hasn't hit rock bottom yet...the guy has the wrong mind set and isn't desperate enough. he has to let go of all his pride. he'd be down to play any position if he were desperate. he needs to work on getting more knowledge and putting the film and analysis work in. yea raiders were a mess and don't have a great coaching staff but the only person responsible for his play on the field is him especially since he didnt do everything he could.

This guy was touted as all world when he came out of college. Hard to imagine how fast he has fallen. All the physical attributes to make it as a NFL QB, but no IQ and apparently, uncoachable. Such a shame.
