The hair fight story is being credited as a tall tale. He did spurn Belicheck when he asked him to talk about a contract extension during training camp though. Moss, for all it's worth, did a fantastic job for the Patriots on and off the field. Yes, he is moody, but you can't deny the Vikings are better with him. My Patriots will be fine. They have more draft picks than Favre has sexual harassment cases.

Gotta believe there was more to this then wanting to dump an aging player who would be looking for a payday at the end of the season.

Mabeye it was to keep locker room in order, mabeye the deal was too good to pass on and they knew they risked getting nothing in return after the season, but its going to be clear NE could still have used Moss over the remainder of the season. A 3rd rounder won't help THIS year, me thinks there was some bad blood here. Mabeye they see things going downhill too fast, but why not try for one more SB before totally retooling the receiving staff?

The guy deserves a contract extension and the Pats didn't give him one. Pats fans and that organization are a bunch of stingy fags.....that won't win any Super Bowls any time soon.

Whoatommy, they DID want to talk contract extension. He said no. Last time I checked, the Patriots won all their Super Bowls with the same game plan they are implementing now. I am not sure what team you root for, but I suspect they aren't as successful as the Patriots have been this century.

Moss does dress like he's headed for Juvy.

The Pats are stingy businessmen, as are the Eagles but these teams have also been good for pretty much the last 10 years. They get rid of a guy a year early, and they don't resign old players. Instead of getting 0 for Moss next year, they bring in a 3rd round pick which can help their team for the next 5 or so years. They can try and retool this roster to go on another run with all of those picks they stockpiled up.

They need to rebuild that defense... BB can only game plan so much. Ty Warren being out kills them, the LB's are unimpressive, they have to manufacture pass rush, and the secondary isn't very good either.

They need an outside WR now... Hernandez is coming along nice, I like Fred Taylor but they'll need a RB too.

Believe what you want to, now that Moss is gone all of these "stories" start to come out all negative toward Moss. You really believe Brady went on radio every week to defend Moss after they supposedly got into fights over a haircut in the locker room? You really also believe Moss went public and totally lied about the Patriots not offering him a contract extension? Come on, that's just asking to turn this into a circus.

I live in New England, and I did root for the Pats to go undefeated that one year. That loss is just something that team won't get over very easily. You can tell by their body language after that game and season, it took a lot out of them.

NE had no choice but to trade him but no way are they better without him. They won their Super Bowls behind defensive superstars like Seymour, Vrabel, Bruschi, Milloy, et al and they're all gone.

Moss has nothing to do with what the Pats do this year. Never really did. Sure he could help out with a catch or 2, but football is a team sport and one player does not make or break a team. Look at what the Pats did to the Fish a week ago with Moss being a non factor ( yes I'm aware he draws double coverage all the time ). Special teams won that game. During their 3 Super Bowl winning seasons the Pats were among the top teams in league in +/- turn-over ratio. That's not a receiver or QB, that's special teams and defense giving the team field position. You're bound to score a lot more points starting at the oppositions 30 than at your own 30 no matter who you have on offense. I'm not saying that offense cannot win you games, everyone is well aware that Brady can march a team 90 yards for a winning score and win games without turn-overs, but he has many tools to work with. Bill Belichick is a great coach, possibly the best in the league at the moment and will also factor into what the Pats do this year. I for one am not worried about the Pats trading Moss for a 3rd round pick. Many are saying a 3rd rounder is not enough to get for Moss. Keep in mind Belichick again, drafting. He has one of the best few QBs in the league. In case you don't remember, Brady was a 6th round pick and he has more Super Bowl rings ( 3 ) than any QB who has ever played the game except Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana ( 4 ). Troy Aikman also has 3.

it's tragic that they reported this. I heard a rumor that he wanted to "fight" the OC, after the Miami game. The media is really off base on this one... Belichick, doesn't make snap decisions, this was planned, probably after game 1, when Randy told them he wanted out.

Obviously these reports are garbage, funny reports tho. Just another case of journalists having absolutely no relevance, or grasp on the situation at hand. He was traded as a favor, because they were not going to pay him next year. I am still trying to figure out what happened in the second half of the Jets game, it seemed to me as if Belichick called off the dogs, and the Jets took advantage.

Look at it objectively. Randy Moss is not a cheap non skilled wr that the Pats covet. If patriots were super bowl contenders, Seymore and Moss would be in Pats uniforms. Pats are rebuilding on the fly. No more super bowls anytime soon with or without brady.
