Raiders have the best cornerback in the NFL
I heard about their CB Nnamdi Asomugha and how many people say he is the best cornerback in the league today. But do most people even know who this guy is? I mean everyone knows Woodson and Revis but almost all offensive coordinators say Asomugha is the best CB in the league hands down. I checked his stats and he doesn't have that much tackles nor INTs. Then i read that he has some crazy stat where a QB only threw a ball in his area like 30 times in one season??? Basically that means they throw less than 2 balls in his direction per game!

Does anyone find it funny how the Raiders have the best cornerback in the league yet they are still a horrible team? I mean if you have him cover the other teams number 1 receiver, he will most likely shut him down but the rest of the raiders squad is pretty bad.

But to those that watch raiders games, how good is this guy? Is he the number 1 cornerback in the league? I mean if someone is the best QB, WR, RB or DL or LB in the league, most players would know their name. But i never heard of this guy until last year? I mean wasn't woodson and Asomugha together for a few years? I know the raiders have a good defense against the run these few years but if they had woodson and asomugha, how could they been this poor? I mean wouldn't they be like the Ravens where they have solid defense and horrible offense so they at least make the playoffs?

He's better than Revis cause he has no help at all but allowed just 11 receptions all of last season. If Raiders had a pass rush then he would get more INTs.

It's cause he plays for Oakland and they get no media attention. He's been the best for past two years. Revis is regarded as best in NFL because the media hypes up the Jets and Revis but Asomugha is slightly better in my opinion.

Is anyone else shocked that he only allowed 11 receptions all of last season? When i heard this stat, i thought it had to be a mistake. That would mean he allows less than 1 reception on the guy he is covering every week.

He is hands down better than Reevis in my opinion. I still think Woodson is the best overall CB in the league because he is one of the best 1 on 1 tacklers overall at any position for that matter, particularly off the edges.

As far as pure covering though, I think Asomugah is the best

Since when was Nnamdi unknown? Anyone who is even remotely a football fan knows him...

Are you sure? I am pretty sure people who are Giants, Jets , Patriots, Cowboys, Packers, Colts or Saints fans probably never even heard of this guys name. I watch football a lot since the mid 90s and i just heard his name a year ago and had no clue he was this good because he plays for oakland.

You may be watching it, but are you reading between the lines? The Raiders get no love off the media so it is rare for them to talk about the raiders whether it is good or bad press.
Nnamdi is very good and those in the know realise this. He can only shut down one of up to five attacking options on a team though

Raiders 3 and out every time, Chargers pass the ball at will on Raiders like they are not even there which they aren't, get phantom points from the sky somehow, and get a win because they get to play against Norv Tooler. Tooler, Swingingtary, and Bum Phillips signed a deal to do the Three Amigos sequel, its a comedy about bonehead wanna football coaches.

he is the best , but theres only so much one man can do ..... why are the texans not putting up 40pts per game? they have A.johnson and schuab . arguably top 5 best qb/wr combo in the league .. football is a team effort , and thats another reason why cowgirls will never win . jerry jones is a mini al davis . all they do is create a beastly madden team that can do nothing in real life.

I noticed that both Asomugha and Revis caused many penalty yards. Maybe that shows how aggressively they are.

A healthy Darrell Revis is better than Nmadi Ashomongua but not by a whole lot. Look how many stud WR's Reevis shut down last year....Ashomongua would NOT put up stats close to that if he defended the same WR's in the league. I have seen some #1 WR's burn Ashomongua more than anyone has Reevis but yea...for the past 3 to 4 years Nmadi A. has been a top three or top four cover cornerback in the NFL.

People used to talk shit about Woodson when he was in Oakland because he never racked up that many interceptions.

Well HELLO everyone was scared to throw to his side of the field. Same with Champ Baily for years. Sometimes you looked at a season and he only had 3-4 picks and you think what kind of season was that.

No quarterback wanted to throw to those guys in their primes. They would maybe get 1-2 balls thrown to their side of the field for an entire game.

You may say that you've watched a lot of football, but it seems dubious.

You had never "heard" of Asomugha until 2009?

Even the most cursory of fans who turn in to just watch the Superbowl likely are privy to Nnamdi and how good he is.

This is like a strange conversation from '05.
