Thoughts from the just announced trade:
1. NE will lose plenty in 2010 without him stretching the field taking 2 defenders with him. He would NOT have been with them in 2011, but it's tiring to see the Pats stockpile picks while losing focus in the current year (Seymour '09, Moss '10).
2. Minny has just found a way to get a "tired" Farve excited. That is good for Minny. Teams should still try to pressure Farve, who must play 13 in a row now, but will do so at the risk of single coverage on a WR who plays better when not in cold conditions!
NE solution: OVERTRADE NOW, because you have extra picks in rounds 1,2,3, and 4. USE THEM, because the 2011 season may be in jeopardy anyway.
2nd best solution: Trade a #2 and a #3 for Jackson of SD. Jackson has talent, is eligible in week 7, and fits. Issue: Contract demands and NE hates this sort of thing.
BEST SOLUTION: Trade for LEE EVANS! Buffalo isn't using him correctly and they are going nowhere in '10. Maybe they can get Evans for the same #2 and #3, but I'd be willing to trade the lower of the #1's for him in a win-win situation. Buffalo gets to build its roster while not losing much anyway this year and NE gets a quality WR who is not only under contract, but is a team player all the way!!!!
Will this happen? No. Should it? Absolutely!
