I've heard various post-game interviews this week where players/coaches took indirect shots at refs by saying things like " Nowadays you dont know what to expect" and "Some crazy calls goin on out there" and "things beyond our control seem to be killing us lately".
QUESTION 1) Why does it appear as if this year the amount of bad calls or questionable holding or interference calls at crucial times has doubled?
QUESTION 2) Why do refs no longer give an explanation after a review challenge?
ex) yesterdays titans game, chris johnson fumbles on the denver 20 and CLEARLY his knee was down, the commentators boast about how this will definitely be overturned, and then the ref comes out and says "after review, ruling onf the field stands" .... a year and two years ago they would give a clear explanation for example "not enough conclusive evidence " etc...
honestly, as a titans fan i was disgusted at the amount of calls that went denver's way yesterday. really makes you sick when the refs take a game away from your team.
QUESTION 3) Why are refs making so many mistakes in their calls - they seem to be calling a foul on the wrong team then changing it after, pointing the wrong directions, calling the wrong numbers, ... why has the level of officiating become so poor?
it seems that officiating in the NFL has gone down the drain, and that they are using too many holding calls to change the outcome of the game. furthermore, it seems like more often then not, calls are NOT balanced between teams, and one team gets hit 10 times harder than another...
i know this has always occured in the NFL (having watched the NFL for 20+ years now, but this is the most rediculous year thus far I have ever witnessed in terms of pathetic officiating. .. And its not just me, players, fans, and coaches have been pointing this out
