The redzone fumbles and turnovers does seem a little excessive. I think things will calm down though.

I just hate the inconsistent roughing rules, especially for QBs.... not below the knee, not above the neck, not with the helmet, on and on and on........ and now they are doing the same for receivers.

this year is as exciting as any other. its great! so many surprises, so many unexpected things happening all over the league. i love it

It's just a different kind of season, like every season is. It's unique compared to other years and a blast to watch. I don't see the problem you're having.

I do think the games are being over-officiated. Roughing the passer calls (and to a lesser degree, pass interference) are called way too frequently, inconsistent in the way they are interpreted from one game to the next, and too often affect the outcome. Penalties are there for a reason, and should be called when legit...but it seems like the defenses are being totally handcuffed.

I agree the officiating seems abysmal to me, but I'm having a down year so far.

It's like when baseball umpires seem to change the strike zone for each pitcher.

The NFL is boring as hell this year. I have enjoyed watching College football a whole lot more than the NFL.

the NFL just seems worse because college football is so great, and is played the preceding day. the NFL is like a good comedian trying to follow Don Rickles at a roast - no matter how good he is, he'll still suffer by comparison.

that said, the roughing/helmet-to-helmet/leading with the helmet penalties are completely out of control and inconsistently applied. the officials are a bigger part of the game than ever, and that's always bad for a sport.
