    Let's Get Intelligent
    Fellow Handicappers,

I am writing this thread to form a network of intelligent individuals who want to simplify their work, and increase their earnings. Here is my idea.

Betting on sports can be an elaborate process. This process takes intelligence, energy, and countless hours to determine which bet is right.

I propose a network of 32 people, with one person covering "his team". For example: I have followed the 49ers since I was 10, and know the team inside and out. I knew that they would lose to the Chiefs, and even stated in a previous post that Arrowhead stadium would overwhelm Alex Smith. I also know from experience that they have historically played very poorly at the Chiefs home-turf, which is why I chose the Chiefs again to win, and win handily at home. With one person being assigned to "his team" individuals can converse with each other throughout the week to determine which has the better chance and picks will be emailed to the network, after a trial run or two of course.

What I do not want is unrealistic people that believe "his team" will win the Superbowl every year. This can be a drawback, because it creates a bias. Nevertheless, this process could work. Reply to this post if interested. I have the 49ers covered. We still have 31 positions available.

    Here is my previous post...

    8. Chiefs +3

-Arrowhead will give SF fits, and Alex Smith will crumble under the pressure. Even though SF needs a win, they are horrible on the road. I like Chiefs to win by at least 7.

I like your idea in theory but honestly most people cannot be realistic when it comes to their home team. Big cowboy fan myself and I know I look through rose colored glasses when it comes to them. Maybe others could be more realistic/objective when it comes to their hometown squad

Very true. So you were in a tough position today, probably hoping that Dallas would win, and believing that they could at the same time. But that's when if a bet is bad, you simply don't make the play. For example: Next week my Niners play the Falcons, and I anticipate the line being fairly high starting out. I'd feel VERY comfortable taking the Falcons at -10 though, but maybe not -14. Falcons owned them last year by 35, and I know 49ers are horrible on the road. I'd take this bet based on what I saw last year, and what I am seeing this year. They are just plain horrible.

Hammer the Falcons straight out the gates. The opening line will only increase, but you have to catch it. I'm guessing it will open at -10 1/2 which I would take. Eventually, it will probably reach -13

And if you feel comfortable, maybe my bias is clouding my lens. Just observe and see what happens the following week.

By Modesto. Anyway, we'll have to discuss the over/under later which I don't know if I'd touch it because the 49ers seem to be very dull on offense, but could potentially be blown out such as today which creates an OVER. I think we both agree though on catching the opening line, anticipating a -10 or -11 and taking it...but always be skeptical on a -14?? What do you think?

I am never a fan of -14 or higher in the NFL. As far as the over I can see the score shaping up to close to what we had in 9ers kc game today.

They are going to go 16-0 and win the Superbowl.

Don't apologize. Of course I know it's been thought of....It's not as if I believe I'm creating my own wheel or anything. However, if I want to attain some sort of edge, why attempt to figure everything out myself, when I have guys who have followed "their team" for years. You're right. It's probably been tried and failed. But I'm the type of person where I want to have first hand experience to better learn a system....something to pass the time.

I like this idea. I share research duties with two other people to cover all the info in a week, but to ask 32 people to be unbiased about their teams? That's asking a lot.

Firefox....think it's a great idea. I live in Baltimore...don't give a shit if they win or lose. But get inundated with Raven info locally all day long. Followed them since they have been here for many years, have a pretty good fell for their tendencies and patterns, what to expect. Happy to give input on them any time. I think what you are trying to do is a little tough...you must put together a list of people who will report on each team, and post it for all to see, because your threads will invariably be overrun by people just putting in their two cents. But if you have a plan, go for it...don't let the naysayers discourage you. Let's see what you can put together.

I like two people conversing with each other about "their game" and then reporting to the group what their consensus is. For example: I conversed with a Falcons fan, and him and I both agreed not to touch the over/under, but to bet the Falcons strong against the 49ers at home....not from what we've gathered statistically, but from what both of us have invariably seen throughout the years. If however, two converse, and they do not like their bet, they simply wait a week to bet, but in the meantime, they are attaining others' picks that they are unaware of thus far. I know what you are saying about the papers though....that's why I choose not to read them, as their bias clouds my vision, and believe the 49ers will win every year. It's truly similar to how I used to feel as a teenager, until I got realistic. I know this plan may be a waste of time, but I like to be optimistic. What if we had some strong analysts for "their team" that developed a good record, that we could follow throughout the weeks. It may be a long shot but it's worth a try.

With the Ravens this week, you are in a tough position as they play the always tough Steelers, and that's a bet, looking at the spread that as an outsider looking in, I probably wouldn't touch. But maybe you would have some inside information that most onlookers are unaware of. I just want to have some fun, and simplify the process. Thanks for the post. Later.

Once you think sports betting requires intelligence it is time to check into a GA program. Anyone in their local areas favors their home teams in most case scenarios. Turnovers decide most point spread covers and not any type of trend and or theories. No one has a fukkin clue who will cover the Pitt/Ravens game.

Loved em vs the Jets, wasn't too sure about the CIN game since Palmer and CO. perennially own our asses, wouldn't have played DD vs CLE if my life depended on it.... this weeks game is going to be intense. PIT is sure to be the public play (even though action is even atm), especially with the line and what they did to TB last wweek - TB had only allowed 10ppg in their first 2 games.

I have guys who visit(ed) TC and open practices regularly and am hooked up to prolly damn near every twitter feed relating to Ravens football. More than happy to discuss mah boys when need be.
