    WEEK #1 picks and thoughts
Any thoughts for WEEK 1 games?

Here are my picks and thoughts...

    Giants
    - At home they need to get off to a good start against an inexperienced QB. G men roll in this one 31-13

    Miami
    - Miami is a team to watch this year. 20 players with less than 2 years PRO experience isn't always a bad thing when the chemistry is good and Parcels brought them in. This teams likes the coach and he gets them prepared to play. look for Marshall to have a couple TD's and the best running back duo in the league to dominate the ground game. Fish 31-17

Steelers/Falcons - Under - both teams will be running a lot. 16-13 final

Texans - Dogs at home but play well against the Colt who are a little banged up. 21-20 Houston

Bengals/ Patriots over - New England can't stop anyone on Defense and both teams will score at will. 33-30 Cincy

    Packers
    - Could be the best team in the NFC. Green Bay 44 Eagles 26

    Browns
    - Delhome reborn for a short time under Holmgren. 24-20 Cleveland

    Ravens
    - Way too much for the over rated Jets. Baltimore 23-6

Seattle - Pete Carrol has a decent team and above average QB. Hawks win their first game with their new boss 38-30

    Lions
    - They always seem to play the Bears tough. 23 - 19 Detroit

    Rams
    - Why not? Rams new QB plays solid and they beat the declining Cards. Rams 31 Arizona 21

I really like your logic and concur with almost all picks. Comments:
      - I wouldn't touch the GB/Philly spread, although I like the over
      - I'm not confident with Detroit covering... too early for me to read how both teams should perform
      - I REALLY like baltimore winning straight up. I have ML at +120. I feel like if this game was in week 5, the spread would be Baltimore -3 even on the road at New York
      - I really like St. Louis covering at home. Although Derek Anderson will improve the Cards offense, they don't have any semblance of a 'team'. Bradford, on the other hand, has the trust and confidence in the huddle, and played awesome against the Pats in preseason.
      - I think the Bengals/Pats game will be a really exciting game. Although it's harder for me to play the Bengals to cover, I think they have a great shot of winning outright, and both teams will score at least 24.

      BOL!

Hawks have beaten the 49ers 4 of the last 6 meeting splitting the 2 games each of the last 2 seasons. New coach and a healthy team with a new attitude seems like a good recipe for a home team win here. IMO

ya that is the problem. Can they hold down the Panther running attack. If they can they should win this one by 10 or more. I am betting that they do a decent job against the run and Manning picks apart the defense. BOL

I think the Panthers win S/U, that inexperienced QB put the beatdown on the G-men last year, and I think that combined with DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart running all over them, the panthers at least Cover +7.5

I like the Browns pick a lot. Its almost too good to be true to be honest. The bucs suk badly and the Browns have such a strong O line that I just think they will have their way all day Sunday afternoon.

I would love for someone to make a compelling argument for Tampa but I just do not see how anyone possibly could.....

The NFL parody is likely stronger that any other time in history this season so the books will likely make a lot of money this year.

Bucs don't look like a strong club but they are at home and it is Cleveland after all. Having said that, New guy in charge Holmgren should make an impact on the Browns and the veteran QB should be enough to win this game. I am betting they will.

Dwight, like the write-ups, but Seattle is not a healthy team. Their offensive line is really banged up & they don't have anyone to throw the ball to. Home field up there is a huge advantage, but I just don't see how this team will score any points. Just my opionion, but I see something like a 23-10 win for the 49ers. Best of luck this weekend sir, I'll do my best to stay active in the thread.

I guess I was mainly referring to Hasselback being healthy which of course is very important for any success they may have. Glad to see a few guys saying the same about them not being as healthy as I assumed which will help me determine the amount I do risk on that game. Already had me second guessing it.

Pete Carol's second attempt at the NFL along with home field could be good for a few points. I am still not sold on the niners even though I do like the coach. BOL to u also.

The Seahawks putting up 38 points against the 49ers defense? LOL the Colts couldn't even put up 20 points against them last year in Indy, and SF was weaker then. Seattle will not win this game, SF will win this game 24-10. SF has a nasty defense, offensive line beefed up, great RB, great TE, Crabtree, third down back in Westbrook, and Ginn to stretch the field. Seattle has no chance but think it's totally funny how you have them putting up 38 points when SF didn't allowed that at all last season.

hey that what gambling all about. I am sure the odds makers never imagined the saints vikings game would have 23 total points scored thus making the total 48 points. You could be very right on your score prediction. I hope they have a good season. Not sure how much Westbrook has left in him but he can definitely be huge if he can stay healthy, Ginn JR is fast yes but can't seem to catch the ball and that's why Miami basically gave him away, Gore is a horse and Crabtree is the real deal and if the O line can do the job, they should win the division. The wildcard will be your QB.

                                            #22
Ravens - Way too much for the over rated Jets. Baltimore 23-6
Chiefs - They will likely do what the Skins did to the Cowboys yesterday and SD usually gets off to slow starts. KC 22-16
