Hello! My name is Kenneth Corey, a.k.a. "The Sports Scientist." I handicap the NFL, and only the NFL. I had a strong year in 2009, going 67-50-4 (57.2%) +22.275 units, and I'm looking forward to 2010 in a big way.

For Week 1 I have 9 plays so far. They are:

Vikings +5 (PUSH)
Dolphins -3

Bengals +4.5

Titans -6
49ers -3 -105 (2 units)
Redskins +3.5
Redskins ML +175

Kenneth,I would like to know your thoughts concerning the line in the ATL/PIT game. I've asked this question in another blog on this site and another,but didn't get any response.
My question is why is the line (was -2.5 and now is a pk -120 at my book) the way that it is? Everything I've read about ATL indicates that they are healthy,and have strengthened themselves some what as compared to last years team. There are some analyst who say they could go deep into the playoffs and some yet say they will unseat NO for the division.
On the other hand PIT appeared to be having decline setting in on the O line losing games to very bad teams and in addition lost the best lineman they had for the season (only plus is the rookie center). I'm supposing the D will come out with their "A" game and truly test ATL's O line. My thinking is they will struggle to score hence how are they going to keep up with the caliber of team that ATL is suppose to be? Please advise. I'm ready to jump all over this line.

When a line peculiarly moves like this it almost always means that "sharp" money is on the side that is moving towards favorite, so in this case the Steelers. Do I like Atlanta less now? Yes. Did I already bet Atlanta -2? Yes. Do I still think they will win by 3+? Yes.

The Steelers defense is concerning, and if Turner gets shut down then the Falcons will likely have problems establishing their aerial attack. I have been very unimpressed with Dixon, except for a fleeting moments. As long as Atlanta's defense plays up to their potential I see a win for Atlanta.

As far as my plays go, I use "double-weight" or "2 units" as a way to indicate that I feel particularly strong about a certain play. In turn I wager twice as much on those games than I do my other plays.
