I personally guarantee a Vikings victory tomorrow.

#416 points is to much to give up....
Taking the Vikings though doesn't make sense to me either. Brett Favre has been to camp a few days before the last game of preseason, had surgery on his ankle w/ injections the other day. Rice, Vikings last years leading wr is out and Percy Harvin hasnt been healthy with his migraine. Chester Taylor is gone, who was a great third down passing back. There defense will keep them in it but I doubt the offense can keep up with the Saints.Comment -

#47This "guarantee" crap is twisted.
This calling people 'idiots' for picking opposite you, is twisted.
I knew from the title that I'd find some quality arguments in this thread however.
I have about 4-5 points FOR the Saints.
I've got 1 point FOR the Vikes.
Lots of people like the Vikes, but with no justification.
I assume if they had them, they'd state them.
An equal amount of people liked the Saints, but they came with arguments.
Like ankle injections.
Home game opener.
Last year's champs.
No more 2nd 3rd 4th stringer matchups, Saints Mainline IFE. <--- that's my contribution
And a reputable source says they cover no sweat.
Mainly I'd like to thank you though.
You drew out some crushing arguments against MIN
and I hardly saw a peep against NO even with all the MIN supporters.
So let me stand up for what I see then.
We have to talk about one thing. Practicality
------
Defense:
MIN 7th vs N.O. 28th
This is where you argue MIN's threat.
Their defense combined with N.O.'s offense makes for an apple orange game.
We know that MIN will be tested to the max but their defense should holdish.
------
Offense:
N.O 2nd vs MIN 21st
In other words, from the LITTLE information we have,
we can see that these apples and oranges even out very nicely.
------
I can understand where people are saying, "Saints may win, but don't count on the cover."
They're on the money.
But this is assuming EQUAL HEALTH.
I don't get the impression that Favre will necessarily come out swinging for certain.
It's a good bet Saints will, due to home-opener crowd hype adrenaline.
Even knowing they're facing Favre should prove a plus for N.O.
But I think the point here, FINAL point, that needs to be looked at, is actually the translation:
MINNESOTA'S DEFENSE, THEIR MAIN STRENGTH, HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH FAVRE'S PERFORMANCE.
If they shut down N.O. offense, which they might be in a position to do, then MIN can cover spread and maybe even win.
And when we look at how incredibly slack N.O. defense is, frankly, we don't need a Favre that's 100% anyway; a dependable Saints D that functions at 10% will do just fine for MIN offense.
It's actually the Saints that have no cover. Their offense HAS to be 100% and nothing else matters here.
MIN can get away with a good D an average Favre.
But N.O. has to bring the ruckus.
Know what? I think the Saints bring it.
I know a little about medicine and I know that:
a) facing Favre
b) playing a home-opener
c) knowing you can do it because of last year's super-bowl coaching.
...is a perfect adrenaline cocktail mixed with advantageous psychological mandates.
I digress. .Last edited by DeeVeeOSs; 09-09-10, 02:20 PM.Comment -

#49+200 odds right now. And they are clearly the better team. Better quarterback, better running back, better everything. Just look back to last year when they played in the conference championship game. Vikings were the superior team. If it wasn't for luck (turnovers) and the NFL rigging the game in order to help out the economy in a struggling city, Minnesota wins that game by 21+. Don't be fooled by the Saints being 6 point favorites. That is a dumb play. Minnesota has this in the bag.Comment -

Minnesota Vikings (0-0) at New Orleans Saints (0-0)
Louisiana Superdome New Orleans, Louisiana
Expect tonight’s Monday night battle to be a rerun of last year’s 31-28 New Orleans overtime playoff victory over Minnesota. Look for Brees to outshine old man Favre tonight in the Superdome. Take the top-ranked offense in the league with home field advantage to cover the spread.
