Teams I like at First Glance...
Panthers +7 ... What did the Giants do to prove they are worthy of being a 7 point favorite? They will have issues with Carolina's running game all day.

Steelers -1.5 ... Yea, I know Roethlisberger isn't playing but Pittsburgh played pretty damn well with Dixon last year against the Ravens. It's the home opener and there's just way too many people on Atlanta.

Lions +7 ... Detroit has some weapons and will be better this year. I think Stafford breaks out and Best was a great draft pick. Chicago might very well be looking ahead to Dallas and Green Bay. Also like the over in this one but that's just a gut feeling.

    Texans ML (+110)
... The Texans are the real deal and I don't think the Colts will be as good this year. I think the AFC South will be a lot closer than past years and that Houston could really challenge Indy for that title.

I also kind of like Baltimore (+1.5) and New England (-4). Any thoughts on these early opinions? We still have a few days to think about these games but thoughts on these picks and other games are appreciated.

I actually like most of your picks. The only one I have a question mark is with the Texans, but it is at home and if Foster can get a ground game going they can score some points.

Pitt doesn't get "dominated" at home

I don't know how one can be confident betting HOU this week. They always get owned by Indy. Colts were 7-1 ATS as road favorites last year. Texans have no Cushing or Robinson. Their D will get shredded. Colts are only better this year because they're healthier. I'm not saying HOU is a bad pick because they're on the cusp of being a really good team but I can't touch them in this situation.

I'm on Colts -2.5 but GL

So don't make a move on a team until everybody knows about them... sharp strategy...

Lions made a lot of improvements this offseason, but we'll see. I think now is the time to start betting on them covering.

I think Indy takes a step back and Houston takes a step forward. Gun to head, I still take the Colts to win the division but I think we're looking at a Colts 11-5, Texans 10-6 type year.

Why would Indy be taking a step back?

                      Who did they lose?

They aren't exactly a young team. And we all know how the team that loses the Super Bowl tends to do the next season.

solid picks here the blatimore game is a total toss up but i would take the jets there.

Love the lions on the spread and like the HOuston ML play. Why are the colts only -1 if the books think they will win? Indy ML is bait. Houston outplayed them last year and Manning destroyed them in the 4th quarter when it mattered. The Texans will be more disciplined this year and have been waiting for this moment.

I really like the Carolina, Steelers and Lions plays.
I think the Lions play is probably the strongets, they definitly will be much improved this year.

I like them all except Houston. I just cant bring myself to bet against Peyton he is too clutch. That being said I wouldnt bet Colts either I will stay away from that game. 1 game I really like is Ravens ML +125. I think the Jets are getting too much hype with a borderline starting QB that could turn the ball over 4 times a game against anyone just by himself. The Jets play D but they wont be able to run the ball against a fresh Ravens team and Sanchez doesnt scare me. GL

I like Bal with points. NYJ have great D but I think their offense stinks. May very well turn into a F.G. shootout. With T.J. I think the Ravens will be a bit more dynamic to an already solid team. JMO
