#45Lions - best off season in recent years. Sims, Burleson, Scheffler, Vanden Bosch are not sexy names in terms of FA or trade acquisition but they should all be major contributors this year. Add in rookies Suh and Best then count 2nd year players Stafford,Delmas, Levy and Hill. Finally the Lions have a roster that other teams would actually want some of the playersComment -

#54I guess if you keep this thread going long enough, every team will be mentioned at some point. Going with the NFL future odds, I would say the best value long shots are Houston and Philadelphia moderately (both at 30:1), Arizona (50:1) and KC and Oak (both 100:1).
Hou needs to get over the mental hurdle. They can play with anyone in the league but have had too many mental lapses costing them a couple of games a year and the playoffs.
Phi future rests on how Kolb does. Things look good now, but who knows what happens when he goes full time during the regular season (note: Leshon McCoy is looking like the next Brian Westbrook with the way they've been using him as a receiver out of the backfield).
Ari still has a lot of pieces from their Superbowl run sans Kurt Warner and A Boldin. They still have a tough defense and some offensive weapons. Like Philly, this is all on the QB.
KC and Oak both may benefit from a weak schedule and a weak division. KC has some offensive weapons, lets see whether the defense can make some stops. Oak has been the victim of bad QB play for so long. I'm actually high on Jason Campbell for this team. He throws an effortless deep ball. It can be like old time Raiders football: establish the run and the passing game of all deep balls and dumps to the TE. Al Davis would be tearing up right now if he was awake ....Comment -

#56On the flip side possible let down surprises may be SD, Balt, but the big one I most suspect is Green Bay.
The NFC North plays the NFC East and AFC East This year. Those are two rough divisions. They'll still have their 2 Det and 2 Chi games, but the rest of the schedule is tough sans Buffalo. They traded TB, CLE, STL, SF, SEA on their schedule for teams like DAL, NYG, NYJ, NE, MIA, PHI, WAS. Ouch!
Don't let the #1 ranked rush defense last year fool you, when GB played a decent team last year, they're defense was pedestrian. They built their numbers on all their cupcake games (Det x2, Chi x2, Tb, cle, stl, sf, sea). Check out the Ari playoff game for reference ...Comment -

#59U might be surprised when the TITANS win the SUPER BOWL. I will have known it all along.. (I have a very intense method of determining the super bowl winner, it has never lost! hahaha.)
I am surprised that Jacksonville still has a team. I would also be surprised if Pittsburgh wrote DTF on their terrible towels, on the day BEN comes back. a boy can dream though.
as for the NFC, why don't we fly with the EAGLES. Kolb will do more than he has to, and the eagles system marches to the top of the NFC?? I feel for Mcnabb, he's in the twilight of his career, has to pick up a new system, (hope he picks that up, better than a blitz these last years.) and he is now playing 4 games against teams that fully understand his weaknesses (see blitz, pickup of). I have a theory, that Mcnabb lost the eagles more games than he has won them these last several years, I am pretty pumped that Andy Reid subscribed to my theory! and that is why I back the EAGLES.Comment -

#62Cardinals are totally being underestimated. I see Whisenhunt resorting back to his Steeler days and running the ball like crazy to make it easier for Leinart. Faneca will make that line better, Beanie and Hightower is nice 1-2 punch at RB.Comment -
