Polamalu, Holmes, Smith could start for Steelers
I took the Steelers ML earlier this week, so needless to say I'm hoping they all play this week.

WR Santonio Holmes, strong safety Troy Polamalu and left offensive tackle Marvel Smith could all return to the Pittsburgh Steelers' starting lineup for their showdown with the unbeaten [iSBRFORUM]New England[/iSBRFORUM] Patriots on Sunday.

I'd be surprised if they didn't start. Wonder what's up with Davenport ... anyone hear anything?

He wasn't even dressed last week, right? If he doesn't play, I may approach this game differently. I really believe his style of running will be more effective in this game. Parker is fast but not as strong. Najeh gets the tough yardage and can still break one with his power (Seattle game for example).

Though I'm trying to lay off it because our dear friend Sportsgirl has me convinced they may keep it very close or win. Maybe I'm just a sucker for blondes. *sighs*

Davenport is also a necessary component for blocking because of his strength. Parker gains more yards with him in, IMO. There is an air of secrecy surrounding him not playing last week - Steelers are mum on this topic so far.

Oh, and blondes are a good thing; you could be suckered into worse

I think Davenport's injury is made up and he got into to some kind of trouble. Or he got injured while getting into some kind of trouble, lol.

The Steelers are gonna need those 3 guys if they expect to win, especially Marvel Smith and Polamalu. Holmes gives us a deep threat for New England to worry about.

Agreed. We need them all in to win.

With the press whirling around this match up, I'm surprised they haven't found out the deal with Davenport, yet. I'm off work the next two days, so I've not got my regular access to the wire reports.

Yeah Id like to see them send Polamalu on blitzes a lot if he is close to 100%

With the Davenport thing, I saw the Steelers brought back Verron Haynes for a workout and they will probably sign him. Davenport was arrested for domestic violence before and I think the Steelers are looking to replace him before they let the truth out.

I heard last night that Davenport is going to play!!!! And yes it was weird that he was fine all week and right before game time he was injured. Tomlin said in his press conference that he got hurt on the exercise machine which was not too believable!!!! I think there is more than meets the eye there though we need him to go and expel Willie!!!!

If you looked at Davenport when the camera was focused on him for a minute last game, you could tell he was pissed off. I really doubt he was injured on an exercise machine so badly he couldn't play. He was held out for some other unknown reason, for sure.
