Browns -2.5 @ Ravens? I dont get it
Am I missing something here? Browns are shining this season while raven offense is at their worst. I just don't get why the line is what it is?

Someone fill me in, otherwise I'd have to deem this best bet of the week.

Take a look at the total, then both teams overall stats.

I'm on the Browns. After putting up a bunch on a good PITT defense they shouldn't have trouble scoring on BAL. Kyle Boller will not help the offense score either.

I have to admit when the line first came out, instinctively I loved it also. Dig a little deeper though, this one has Baltimore written all over it. This is one proud defense, I don't think they get stomped on at home again.

Conversely, Cleveland's defense is not very good and they also haven't played well on the road. If Boller makes a couple plays, I think the defense and special teams will do enough to keep this one to a FG type game either way.. This one will be closer than people think, its becoming way too much of a "Baltimore has no chance!" attitude around here, that's usually when you know to proceed with caution.

It's not that. It's that the Browns are not yet good enough to be road favorites.

Winning on the road in the NFL is a very difficult thing to do. Let's look at Cleveland on the road this season.
Lost 26-24 at Oakland (not a good loss)
Lost 34-17 at New England (no shame there)
Won 27-20 at St. Louis (not exactly a convincing win over a bad Rams team)
Lost 31-28 at Pittsburgh (after leading at half)

So, you're looking to back a team that is 1-3 on the road and lay three points?

Everything crazyl said was true. The Ravens are reeling. They have a lot of proud players on the that team. It's hard to believe they're going to lose again after being embarrassed on Monday night by the Steelers, getting dominated at home by the woeful Bengals, coupled with the fact that the Browns are not very good on defense all make for a great play on the Ravens.

I'm not saying the Browns can't win or won't win. I'm just saying it's not nearly as cut and dry as it might appear at first blush.

                      Huh?

Are you talking about the same Kyle Boller that threw for 185 yards against the Jets, 184 yards against the Rams, and 191 against the Bills? The 24th, 15th and 26th ranked teams against the pass respectively. Boller sucks the Ravens offense sucks, Heap and Williams are both out. Leaving Mason as his only decent receiver along with a dissapointing Clayton. I don't see how he comes out and throws all over the Browns, regardless of how bad the Browns pass defense is.

On the other side, the Ravens Secondary is still beat up. Rolle still has an "illness", Mcallister is expected to play but he hasn't practiced much this week, Ed Reed has missed practice and Ivy hasn't played very well.

The Ravens turn the ball over to much for their defense to keep them within 3 points of a lot of teams, especially a team with an offense as good as the Browns.

Browns win this game by double digits, IMO.

You have very solid points. But outside of Oakland they don't have any losses to be ashamed of. They played NE closer than anyone except the Colts, if you recall the Pats scored on a fumble return to make it a 17 point win. Stl has a much better offense than Baltimore and Pittsburgh is arguably the 2nd best team in football right now.

I agree with the pride angle as well, but their is also a lot of turmoil in that locker room. Factor in the injuries on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball for the Ravens and it all points to a convincing win for the Brownies.

I will point back to the game against the Rams. The Rams had Gus Ferrotte playing and they turned it over 6 times. Kyle Boller and the Raven offense could only turn that into 22 points at home.

I'm on the Browns. I have -3. Boller will be better than McNair, but there are more problems than that on the Ravens' offense. The Ravens just don't do offense. And, their defense is getting old. I think this game is the end of the line for the Ravens this season.

Not really. The Browns had 163 total yards. 123 passing and 40 running. They scored because they got turnovers and good returns on punts and kickoffs which gave them a short field to work with. Don't be fooled by the Browns on offense. They will do nothing on offense agaist the Ravens defense.

when these two teams played in cleveland, cleveland only had 12 first downs. baltimore had over 400 yards of offense but that was with mcnair throwing the rock. if you assume that cleveland struggles again, and that boller doesn't commit any turnovers on his end of the field, the play here i believe is the ravens and the under.

                                        SAY WHAT?????

Derek Anderson has looked tremendous, this whole team has looked very good; the Ravens are reeling.........but Kyle Boller WILL make some plays today and give the offense a bit more time than the 65 year old McNair. It should be a high scoring affair with the Browns defense not being anything to brag about.

2 possible bets for me in this scenario:

                                        1. Browns -2.5
                                        2. The Over

Good call. I think the Browns screwed up by not continuing to blitz in the 4th quarter and making dumbass penalties. The Ravens didn't win but Boller did put up 250 which is his best passing performance of the year, and I have to give credit where credit is due.
