I think that LT has a slight edge even though his off the field problems hurt his legacy.I actually like Derrick Thomas--- 8 sacks in one game!!!!---2 of the these players are dead and maybe all 3 might be gone within a decade

Really hard to compare different positions.
White was as dominate a DE as there ever was.
LT redefined the linebacker position .
Both were GREAT players.

Reggie white only because he was in the trenches and battled olineman on every down. OLB do not have to fave 300 lb line on every play.

reggie white was amazing. LT was too, so you have to judge based on them all around, and reggie white should take it.

LT is probably the best at the position of all time and reggie white would probably agree. both great players.

Realistically these are the two best defensive football players in the history of the game, I wouldn't know how to choose other than the fact that Reggie was a respected leader and LT had some issues.

Both were awesome players, Reggie White was a better person. Even now with all the personal problems players are having these days having a quality person is more important than ever.

It's tough, but I'll take Reggie.
Reggie was a better leader and changed the franchise when he came to GB. Check out GB's DEF league ranks before and after Reggie arrived. Heck, check out Philly's DEF league ranks before & after Reggie left. Philly went from dominant to decent, GB went from doormat to dominant.
LT certainly changed the game, but some respect has to go to the complete team which included Belichick & Parcells masterminding the defensive scheme innovations which LT embodied. LT got 2 rings and the last non QB/RB NFL MVP, so there's no disputing his career achievements.

Both were dominant in their prime. Reggie had a longer career and better stats. But coke heads do win rings in that era.

Reggie was indeed great. He was not even close to as great as LT was though. Ask ANY defensive coach past or present, who they would rather have in their prime on their team, and I think it would be unanimous. LT may have been the best to play the game period. Right there with Jim Brown, Jerry Rice and the best QBs.
