Pats RB Sammy Morris-OUT for the year
Looks like this could slow down that high power offense a little bit, because they can't keep relying on that passing game every week once teams start focusing on that.

The New England Patriots' high octane offense suffered a rare hit on Friday when backup tailback Sammy Morris, the team's leading rusher, was placed on injured reserve, ending his season.

Morris went down early against Dallas. Him going on the IR stings but Maroney came back during the Miami game and has been worked back in gradually.

Remember Morris was only filling in as the starter during Maroney's absence. They still have Faulk who is a very capable and versitile back.

It could have been worse. At least they have Maroney back now and hopefully he stays healthy.

It doesn't matter, they still have plenty of play makers. Faulk, Evans and whoever else they need.

I beg to differ Redchevy. Anytime you lose your leading rusher their is a big void.

He is the leading rusher due to Maroney missing three games. He proved to be a good player but Maroney and Faulk will fill any void he left except the tough yards. But according to reports Clock Killing Cory Dillon is itching to come back and the Pats are reaching out. So that fills that short yard/goal line. Maroney is the primary back with or without Morris, Maroney and Faulk are both very good at catching out of the backfield.

The biggest area that will suffer from Morris' loss is Special Teams.

Morris provided a huge boost and flexibility to the RB corps. The loss will be felt more if the other backs don't stay healthy. Their depth at RB now is razor-thin.
