Here's the deal; I know my 49ers have struggled the last decade (and a bit); but with the moves that they have been making (thank you Patric Willis) jsut give Alex the same OC two years in a row; if he can't step up this year I hear 7 in Philly isn't happy in the #2 spot; Niners win the division by at least two games; not over Seatle but Arizona

I am not so sure. The 49ers only play 7 home games this year, and 9 away games. The game in London on Halloween counts as a home game for the 49ers. On top of all that, they play at San Diego on a Thursday in December after a home game against Seattle. They also must play 4 games in 17 days, starting at Arizona on Monday, 11/29, then going to Green Bay 6 days later, then a home game the following Sunday against Seattle, followed by the Thursday game at San Diego. That is not a schedule made for success.

I think Seattle had a much better draft than the 49ers did. The 49ers are going to resemble a goon squad out there, much to the happiness of their HC, who wants to see blood more than wins. The 49er draft was questionable at best, and without a QB, it is going to be very difficult to come back in games.

The 49ers have the advantage of playing is a rather poor division. St. Louis is still 2-3 years away, and it will take Seattle a year to coordinate everything. Arizona is the wild card. If Leinart can do anything, then they are a very dangerous team. They have many more weapons on offense than the 49ers do, but all of those great WR's will be worthless if Leinart can not get them the ball. So while I think the 49ers should be the favorite, I sure would not put any money on them to win the NFC West.

This is the million dollar question. Sipping my coffee this morning, with the season months away, I'll put my nuts on the chopping block and declare Alex Smith is a better QB then Matt Leinart. That's right. Quote me all season on that, but I'm making the claim. I'm even granting the fact that Leinart is in the sweetest situation a QB could be in, with maybe the best WR corps in the NFL and a savvy battle tested veteran team all around him. I'm looking for a Leinart meltdown and we might see Derek Anderson sooner than anyone thinks. Maybe the Cards pull a desperate midseason trade for a QB or even beg Warner to unretire. It might be a circus in Arizona.

That is certainly quite possible, but it is also quite possible that Charlie Whitehurst in Seattle is better than both of them. The NFC West is not exactly packed with great QB's. This is why I can't see giving any team -125 to win this division. It is going to be wide open in the West.

NFC West is garbage! Alex Smith is garbage BUT the 9ers are the best team in that division. So yeah.

Good luck to the Niner fans. I personal don't like them, but doubt they are any real contenders this year.
