Colts addressed a big need IMO today with Ray Fisher from IU (WR converted CB/ and KR). They haven't had a good return guy for awhile and now they possibly have a great one. He'll make a good acquisition because hopefully he'll provide a better chance at field position for the offense and the Colts needed a threat at the position very badly. Fisher lead the nation in kick return average yardage in 2009. 35.3 yard avg. That is very impressive and indicates he definitely possesses some solid football speed.

1 31 (31) Jerry Hughes OLB TCU

What he brings: Hughes has a nonstop motor. He possesses great quickness, body control and the ability to bend and accelerate to close on quarterbacks. He also shows an array of pass-rush moves to both the inside and outside, which keeps offensive tackles on their toes. He had a very productive and durable college career. Hughes fits perfectly at the NFL level as an undersized pass-rush specialist off the edge.

2 31 (63) Patrick Angerer ILB Iowa (Pat Angerer: Angerer compared to Gary Brackett - Billl Polian).

What he brings: Angerer is a three-down inside linebacker who can hold his own in coverage and shows above-average closing speed when asked to rush the passer. He needs to improve his power and ability to stack and shed. That said, he is a sound tackler with above-average range.

3 30 (94) Kevin Thomas CB USC

What he brings: Thomas has a great combination of size and top-end speed. In addition he shows the ability to turn, locate and find the football. While he is a bit tight in the hips when having to quickly turn and run, he still provides enough athletic ability to develop into a quality starter in the Colts? defensive scheme.

What he brings: McClendon possesses great size, a wide body and excellent inline strength. While he is a limited overall athlete, he has enough quickness and lateral mobility to hold his own on the interior at the next level.

This draft has too many undersized LB's in it for me. Again, Indy fails to address their glaring issues at RB. It is the same old Indy team. The offenses will be totally dependent on Manning and the pass. The defense will once again be undersized. I do not see much improvment at all in this team. The good news for the Colts is that challengers San Diego and Pitt did not have great drafts either, and the AFC East will probably beat itself up. Indy's fate will be decided in a 6 game stretch starting on 11/1. Those game include Houston, @Philly, Cincinnati, @New England, San Diego and Dallas. The New England and San Diego games could be critical for home field advantage.

Colts do not have a RB which can outrun the defense once in open field, very evident when Addai broke loose in the Super Bowl and had he great break away speed he would have scored. But, he and Donald Brown are good backs who run very hard to the hole. Good receivers out of the backfield as well. Indy had a good chance at winning the big one, New Orleans just made the bigger plays at the end. Colts are a threat and have a chance. Their team is among the elite so a title is not out of teh question. There are only a hanful of teams in that boat. I think the Saints have great chance at repeat of course.

I think the SAints did a much better job in the draft. They drafted solid players and filled needs. Indy did not fill their RB needs, and drafted undersized players.

The 2010 draft is looking to be a disaster for Indy so far. Their #1 DE Jerry Hughes already looks like an absolute bust. Their #2 LB Pat Angerer looks ok and #7 LB Kavell Connor might have value, but the rest have shown very little so far.

The Colts best rookie from 2010 might be undrafted WR Blair White who famously dropped a wide open 3rd down pass which would have run out the clock and won Indy that playoff game against the Jets. I laughed as Peyton chewed him out for that one.

The Colts, who have so many needs at so many positions can't afford another strikeout draft like this one.
