Ridiculous debate about Peyton Manning's legacy

Do the Colts have to win the Super Bowl Sunday for him to be considered a great QB? What if the Colts defense allows 50 points? Is that on Manning? Pure poppycock of a debate.



If he never wins another Super Bowl, he is without doubt a great QB.

Who cares about the BEST. That will always be an argument for all great QB's no mater what happens in Manning's career.

Peyton is the best of our generation. He will go down as #1 as you know he has couple more shots at a SB with that young set of receivers.

It's sad, but in the end people will just count rings. It's probably not fair, but life isn't fair.

One thing, Peyton has to easily be the best regular season QB in NFL history. He's got double digit wins every friggin year.

The knock on Peyton has always been in the playoffs. 9-8 is kinda 'average' for such a 'great' QB. If you look at the other great QBs in NFL history, many have got tons more playoff wins:

Brady: 14-4
Montana: 16-7
Elway: 14-8
Marino: 8-10
Favre: 13-11
Warner: 9-4
McNabb: 9-7
Bradshaw: 14-5
Kelly: 9-8
Starr: 9-1
Aikman: 11-5
Young: 8-7
Staubach: 12-6
Plunkett: 8-2

So, Peyton is kinda between Marino & Favre, two guys that kinda get maligned for playoff mediocrity.

There aren't many knocks on Peyton, but his playoff track record isn't the spotlight of his career.
