Nfl Total Wins Over/under 2007 Season
Hey guys, have been quiet on the betting scene for quite sometime now... Haven't placed any wagers really since the end of the TRETCHOROUS NBA season! Glad that wackiness is overwith... Just wanted to get your guys opinions on a few Total Wins for the season...

    Detroit Lions- OVER 6 WINS
I really think the Lions are primed for a breakout season this year... I know that Kitna already fueled the fire saying that they could win 10 games or whatever... I really see this team going 8-8 or so this season... Their division is one that that could scratch out a couple road victories and they will be tough to beat @ home this year I think... Would love to hear your thoughts on this one...

New England Patriots- OVER 11.5 WINS
I know that the Pats have a tough schedule this season. However, how does this team not win atleast 12 games this year? The only reason I can come up with is injuries... With Thomas added on defense and Brady having a great core of receivers finally, I think the Patriots easily win 13 this year, maybe 14... Right now the OVER/UNDER are both -110 so the books feels it will be close... However, I really think the Pats will dominate this season and take anywhere from 12-14... Thoughts please!?

    Cleveland Browns- UNDER 6 WINS
The Browns QB situation is in shambles... Yeah, they picked up Jamaal Lewis, but he is washed up IMO... This team still doesn't have it together and I see it very unlikely that they do any better than 5-11 or 4-12 with their schedule... Out of their 6 division games they will be lucky to win 1 of them, playing the Bengals, Steelers, and Ravens twice a piece... That means they can go 4-6 against the rest of their schedule and the wager still cashes... I like this probably better than the other two... I'm really on the Lions bandwaggon though...

Would love to hear your thoughts on these 3 teams and any others that you may ALREADY have wagers on or ARE PLANNING ON putting money on!

I am SOOO PUMPED FOR THE SEASON TO START and can't wait to be in attendance for the unveiling of the Indianapolis Colts Super Bowl Champions banner against the Saints in September!

I'll be talking to everyone again soon!

    Good luck!

A question I have about the Pats is Mauroney. He got banged up quite a bit last year. Mauroney looked great when healthy, but can he carry the full load without Dillon, and avoid nagging injuries. Also will Asante Samuel holdout, w/o him I have questions about their corners. I feel the Pats somehow end up 12-4.

I think NE is looking at 9-7 or 10-6, but I do think the Lions will easily win 6+ games.

I agree with you on your Patriots thoughts Razz. I feel they will be a big time money burner this year as well.

How about the Raiders UNDER 5 wins for the season? I don't see how this team does better than 4-12 with a rookie @ QB... I know Russell is better than most rookie QB's, but I just don't see them putting up any points like last year... Their defense was the only thing that kept them in games last year and if it is not on this year, they will tank badly...

I'm really on the Browns UNDER 6 wins... That is my favorite of the ones I have mentioned... Starting to re-consider the Patriots even though I think they will pull through with 12+...

Anyone that has any other teams OVER/UNDER totals that they like please feel free to speak up!

The Faders going under 5 looks to be too easy to me. That line should be more like 4. As far as the Browns (Aka the Clowns) go. Well, I think under 6 wins should be another good bet as well.

I think the Raiders win a minimum of 5 games this year, with 6 being very attainable. It remains to be seen what kind of a head coach Lane Kiffin will be, but he's surely an upgrade over Art Shell. Kiffin will be calling the plays, which is a significant improvement over Tom Walsh, who handled the offensive duties for much of last season, before being demoted late in the year. As many know, prior to last season, Walsh was out of the league for over a decade, even running a bed & breakfast at one point. His offensive schemes were about as creative and diverse as a Pop Warner squad. The offense will also benefit from having Jerry Porter on the field, while having Lamont Jordan healthy will also be beneficial. I don't expect Russell to start until late in the season, but Josh McCown is an improvement over Aaron Brooks and Andrew Walter. Oakland's defense was quite good last year (although a little overrated given that the offense was so inept and they usually so far behind that opposing teams often just ran the ball up the middle) and should be even better this season. I think Oakland wins 5-6 games. I actually think the Chiefs are the worst team in that division.

I think the Pats U 11.5 is the best future bet on the board. There's very little margin for error with the total set that high and their schedule is brutal.

                Others I like:

                Bengals O 9
                Packers O 7.5
                Redskins U 7.5

Once again, WRONG. Saying the Patriots are looking at 9-7 is on the same level as your claim that the Blue Jays are the best team in baseball, a completely misguided and humorous statement.

What were the Patriots two weaknesses last year? Their wide recievers and their linebackers. So, they go out, get Donte Stallworth, Wes Welker, and Randy Moss for WR's, and Adalious Thomas, the best defensive free agent on the market. So, their two weaknesses from last year immediately become strengths, and their strengths from last year remain the same. Minus possibly the loss of Dillon, but he was getting old and was not going to help the team much this year. You are truly kidding yourself if you think this team is anywhere close to a 9-7 team.

Did some quick bounce back (up or down) calculations.

                      Early leans:
                      CIN O9
                      HOU U6.5
                      IND U10.5
                      JAX O9
                      SD U10.5
                      SEA O9
                      SF U8
                      TEN U7
                      WAS O7.5

                      Some thoughts:

Chargers are everybody's darling, but I think they're overrated. With 5 wins more than in the season before, they now face a 6-10 O/U situation. New coach is not a winner, and last season Chargers played a very weak schedule. I'm throwing them in with the Colts. Teams that have to beat 10.5 wins are only 7-18 O/U.

I also disagree with the general consensus that the 49-ers are ready to break through to the next level. They were +3 wins last season over the previous season, and teams in that situation are 8-20 O/U in the following season.

I really like JAX and SEA. They both were -4 wins last season, which puts them in a very healthy 16-8 O/U bounce back category for the next year. Teams facing a 9 win spread are 13-10 in that situation.

The Bengals were -3 wins last year, and fit a 14-8 bounce back situation.

Redskins should also be able to bounce back. Teams with 5 less wins in their last season from the previous year are 6-3 O/U in the next year. Plus teams looking at 7.5 games to win are 24-16 O/U.

I don't see it for the Raiders either. U5 at +135 seems worth a bet.
