    Manning for MVP?
I've never been big on the NFL MVP awards, but I'm bored. It looks like it's between Manning and Alexander. What does a top RB have to do to beat a top QB? It's really Manning's to lose, and if they go undefeated, it's really not contest. Does James being in the running affect the balloting? Any betting angles on these types of props?

    Could be Co-MVP.

Like in 1997, when Barry and Farve did. Which I think Barry should of took alone, but Im a Lions/Barry fan. And he broke 2k in rushing that year after only getting like 53 yards in the first two weeks.

If the Chargers win out, which would mean wins over Indy (difficult) and Denver (likely) and winning the division, LT will win it.

Manning has to win it. its goof for the league. The league is itchin to get double the star power from the name and there is already a hype machine around the brothers.

Manning deserves it, but this has to be the strongest list of candidates in years.

Seaweed, you are a mad man. This thread is from 2005. Looks like Shaun Alexander won the MVP, not Peyton.

Hands down Brady, and give Rodgers , Romo a nod tho. Like always Tom has to deal with management shipping all the elite proven talent and giving him mostly a scrap heap to lead and he always prevails. Manning gets everything he wants at his disposal and just does his usual "systematic" robot thing even with that jello arm.

In my opinion, I wouldn't give an MVP award to one player. It would be J.J. Watt for a Defensive MVP without question. For an Offensive MVP, I'd give it to Andrew Luck, but the problem is that he has only 61,7% completed passes and 16 INT this regular season, so it's a no call for me, who I'd give an Offensive MVP to.

The MVP award is obviously flawed because it basically goes to a QB every year. Tyron Smith for MVP.

Completely agree there should be 2 mvp's one for defense one for offense. Far as QB's always winning it's cause they are by far most important and handle more of the load than anyone. Who else handles the ball every single play when they are on field? Nobody! In this league if you don't have a great/elite QB you don't have shit unless your defense is just Ravens '00 insane like.

A great QB can lead a mediocre team on a deep Jan run. Not one other individual player can really say that. Ask Watt who was just off the charts crazy good this year and had a 45 td, 4800 yard , 65% completion type year if you put him in QB terms.

Deep playoff runs require a great defense. The last MVP to win a ring was Kurt Warner in 1999. Usually when a QB puts up fantasy stats enough to win MVP, it means the team is unbalanced and the QB has to compensate for a weak defense or run game.

                                Demarco murray?

also agree on the 2 MVP deal and JJWatt.

Slacker the greatest show on turf didn't play D tho? Won like 37-34 every week. Peytons never had great D for most part, neither has Brady oftentimes , or Rodgers, Brees etc. Never said win SB year in year out said deep playoff run. Mvp not a post season award anyhow. Name #1 other player or position who must play at a high level to achieve 10+ wins every year even when cast is not so great overall?

1999 Rams had #4 defense. People forget that. Rams had a solid D their SB years. Otherwise they went nowhere.

Damn Slacker you were right on '99 year. Didn't remember them being that good. Looked at final scores in 2000 season tho and defense definitely seemed to have regressed alot. Late 90's /early 00's I was still in my prime and drinking alot back then so memory a little cloudy at times hahaha!

They only had 2 great years, it was a very short lived run. When Martz took over, he ran the team into the ground.
