    AFC vs. NFC
    Hi,

Based on the winners of the Superbowls, it is interesting that in every decade, either the AFC or the NFC has dominated:

    1970 to 1980 - AFC
    1980 to 1990 - NFC
    1990 to 2000 - NFC
    2000 to 2010 - AFC

    2010 - 2020 - ???

What do you think? Will the pendulum swing back to the NFC? Will the next decade be the decade of the NFC, or will the AFC continue to dominate?

At this point in time, it's very difficult to figure. But for this year, at least, the AFC has the best champion calibre teams.

The AFC still has the top QBs: Peyton, Brady, Roethlisberger, Rivers. So it looks like there will be a continuity towards the next generation of QBs in the AFC. Even guys like Flacco & Sanchez might be a hint of the future to come. Plus, the AFC has the better franchises who are committed to winning: Steelers, Pats, Colts, Chargers.

In the NFC, I'm not as convinced. I'm not a huge fan of Eli as a top QB, even though he has a ring. McNabb is getting older, as well as Favre & Warner who can't have too many years left. Romo, Ryan & Rodgers look like the next generation of the NFC, but all are young and unproven in the playoffs. Brees is the gold standard for QB in the NFC right now, but he's only got one playoff win.

So, if analysis of QB talent in each conference is any indication, the AFC seems to have more legitimate talent for years to come.
