OLd school was allow 3 point for home field advantage ,but with new stadiums piped in noise and all the hoopla when handicapping home field Iwould put on 6 or 7 points does the forum agree?

Espn has an interview with a Linesmaker this week:

Matchup: Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys
Line moves: Line has been steady all week at Cowboys minus-3.
What that means: Two evenly matched teams are getting even play.

Sevransky says: "This line is not going to move at all and I haven't heard any wise guy support either side, it's getting two-way action. Frankly, I think it's a difficult handicap -- everyone remembers Week 17 last year when the game between these two was over in the first quarter. Now the Cowboys have, apparently, solved their December jinx, and I think the Eagles are a Super Bowl candidate. Andy Reid makes great adjustments in the second meeting between these two teams. This line means the teams are basically even and the bookmakers factored in three points for the home field."

    Vegas still factors in 3....

In that game maybe three but different fields do get different values. I think 6-7 is high maybe 4 with one or two at 5 at most while a few may not even have an advantage.

3 is still typical, but every game is different. Some games have the visitor traveling more than others, or in a spot on shorter rest, or facing an opponent that's been home a few weeks, etc.

I wouldn't put much weight in this interview.

HFA mean is 3. Most of the year, it is about 2. The last week or so, it jumps up a lot.

Better to use percentages instead of points because not all points are created equal in the NFL.

Also, disparate team quality affects the HFA. The HFA for your local pee wee team playing the NFC pro bowl team is not the same as the Jets/Texans.
