Chargers Vs 11-3 vs Titans 7-7
The chargers already have clinched division with a playoff bye and Home field advantage with the exclusion to the colts
might have the Chargers feeling too satisfied. Now they have to travel cross country on a short week to a face a Titans team that is nearly as hot as they are. And Tennessee should be hungrier.

The Titans are also wounded, losing two starting linebackers this week to injury. Luckily, they face a Chargers rushing attack that is dead last in yards per carry.

Chris Johnson is the new LaDainian Tomlinson, ready to break the all-time record for yards from scrimmage. Tennessee's offensive line might be the league's best, and Vince Young is healthy again and proving he's a passer first.
betting the line is just too risky
Look for The Chargers to go for points to win , resting their defense as the colts did against carolina
The over here is a much safer bet
I am scared to pick a winner here
I just cant see why Sandiego would want to get in a real physical game with the titans
certainly the Chargers can win and teams that are counting on the Titans loss wont take to lightly to a sit out
    again
chargers will try to out score them not be more physical
    OVER 31 - 27 a score to either team

Tomorrow, the Tennessee Titans (7-7) and the San Diego Chargers (11-3) will square off in a Christmas Day battle at LP Field.

There’s no love lost between these two foes, who competed against one another in two late-season matches in 2007.

The Chargers greatly endangered the Titans’ playoff hopes that year with their 23-17 OT victory. A few weeks later, San Diego officially ended Tennessee’s season with a 17-6 playoff win.

If you want to bet the Chargers Here may be your reason in a great Article I found

The Tennessee Titans, the team that seemingly blew its Super Bowl dreams with a dreadful 0-6 start, will play a game that matters Friday night.

And it won’t just matter for the San Diego Chargers.

Tennessee is among six AFC teams tied at 7-7 and mathematically alive in the playoff chase, just one game behind the last wild-card berth. The Titans already have made NFL history by clawing back to .500 after that 0-6 start. According to STATS, no NFL team has ever finished at .500 or better after starting 0-6.

        Talk about a titanic turnaround.

“Anytime a team goes 0-6 and gets back to .500 and has a chance to get to the playoffs, you’ve accomplished something,” Titans center Kevin Mawae said. “We can’t rest on that. We’ve got to continue on. We’ve got a great team.”

The Titans never lost the confidence gained from last season’s 13-3 record, even after the sixth loss in a 59-0 rout at New England. Coach Jeff Fisher sent them home for their bye with permission to forget football, a welcome mental break. Owner Bud Adams ordered Vince Young off the bench and into the lineup, and their banged-up secondary healed up.

Since then, they’ve been nearly unstoppable, winning seven of eight. Only New Orleans has averaged more yards on offense (413.9 to 398) or points (30.6 to 29.5) than Tennessee. No pressure, only opportunity.

“It speaks volumes about Jeff and the coaching staff and the leaders on the team how we’ve been able to keep things honed in. There was never a sense of panic at 0-6,” Mawae said. “It does speak to the character of our team that we’ll be able to handle the short week and be prepared.”

San Diego coach Norv Turner, whose Chargers (11-3) have won nine straight since starting 2-3, thinks the Titans’ turnaround is the toughest thing to do in the NFL.

“No one wants to be in that position, and sometimes things happen that are out of your control. To keep a group together, it speaks volumes of the staff, but it also speaks about the players to trust and believe. We all know in this league there’s a tendency when teams struggle, it goes the other way,” Turner said.

The Titans, who needed overtime to down Miami 27-24 last week, must win their sixth straight home game, then finish with a victory at Seattle on the final day of the season. They also need plenty of help to keep their faint playoff hopes alive.

It won’t be easy against the Chargers, who have clinched their fourth straight AFC West title. San Diego, which beat Cincinnati by the same 27-24 score last week, wants the AFC’s No. 2 seed and the first-round bye that comes with it.

The Chargers also want a 10th straight victory and an 18th consecutive December win dating back to 2006. Quarterback Philip Rivers, the AFC’s leading passer and third in the NFL with a 102.8 rating, has been under center for each of those December wins.

He sees no reason to slow down on Christmas night.

“I don’t think you really think about that streak, but ... the fact that we’ve been able to win in December the last four years it’s helped us get going into January. So, the fact that this is the last one in December, it’s not the forefront, but it’d be nice to be able to extend it to next season by going and getting this win,” Rivers said.

“Obviously that’s not at the top of the list, but it would be nice to keep that going.”

Tennessee will be without two starting linebackers due to season-ending injuries to Keith Bulluck, the team’s leading tackler, and David Thornton. San Diego has lost its second center, though Nick Hardwick might return after hurting his left ankle in the season opener.

The Titans will be challenged trying to slow down Rivers, who needs 109 yards passing to reach 4,000 for a second straight season, and tight end Antonio Gates without Bulluck and Thornton. Gates already has 1,071 yards receiving this season and is 31 yards short of a career high.

San Diego has to defend the dual threat of Young and Chris Johnson. Young threw for a career-high three touchdowns last week and has a 106.4 passer rating at home this season. Johnson is 270 yards shy of becoming the sixth player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a season and has nine straight 100-yard rushing games.

“Rivers is having an unbelievable season in December, like always,” Young said. “Us, as an offense, we have to keep him off the field.”

Fisher has never beaten San Diego, even seeing Ryan Leaf get a rare NFL win for the Chargers back in 1998. The Chargers have won six straight in this series, including two in the span of four weeks in 2007. The Titans blew a big lead in their last game here Dec. 9, 2007, in losing in overtime, and four players fined $32,500 total for late hits and horse-collar tackles.

“I already know going into it that it’s one of those weeks that you prepare for a dogfight, because of the type of guys they have over there,” San Diego linebacker Shaun Phillips said. “

Fisher has been telling his Titans scenarios of what must happen for them to reach the postseason. Neither he nor the Titans are sharing those details from what he called his crystal ball.

“We don’t win this game, we’re out,” Fisher said.
taking the points might not be such a play after all
Money Line is a much better play though < I dont see the spread factoring in
the chargers should win or lose by 4 or more

A better reason to start liking the chargers
The Chargers Shawne Merriman sprained his knee in that game and he still thinks it was a cheap shot along with OLB Shaun Phillips so a little pay back could happen Friday night. The Chargers defense will have their hands full Friday night to stop the Titans NFL rushing leader Chris Johnson while keeping an eye on the dual threat in Vince Young. If the Chargers defense that has allowed an average of 117 rushing yards per game this season can halt the Titans potent running game then they will win outright Friday night.

            BEST REASON
San Diego Chargers vs Tennessee Titans Christmas Day NFL Week 16: Listen, I don’t want to make this about more than it is. One of these two teams is better than the other. One of these teams has something to play for. One of these teams has a better defense and a more impressive offense. One of these teams in an underdog despite clearly being the “One team” in all the above statements. I know it seems crazy, but I’m taking that team to win outright on the road in this one.

To talk about the Chargers for a second, it seems they haven’t lost a December game since they’ve been a player in the AFC. They’ve been a handful for anyone and everyone come playoff time, or the last month of the season, and this year is no different. The Chargers started a little slow, falling far behind the Denver Broncos in a mediocre AFC West, but 9 wins in a row can quell lots of problems, and the Chargers have taken a solid lead over the rest of the AFC not playing home games in Indianapolis.
The Tennessee Titans also went on a pretty spectacular run, especially when you consider their 0-6 start to the season. Since then, and since they inserted Vince Young into the starting quarterback role, the Titans are 7-1 and continue to do their best in the spoiler role.
But the bottom line is the Titans have beaten just one team with a record better than .500 as of today. One. The Arizona Cardinals, in Tennessee. Now Arizona can be a great team, no doubt, but they can also be terrible, and having that single home win over a better than .500 team doesn’t impress-a-me-much. I’ll take the powerful dogs in this one.

crusher i would also think that it would be in sd best interest to get this team out of the playoff picture now as no1 wants to see them in he playoffs..mabey the extra motivational edge that sd needs..are you sure sd has the #2 slot locked up? i thought they needed another win to clinch it but i could be wrong if so you would think they get it out of the way now and mabey rest guys next week..this is a tough gm but its hard not to take the plus money on sd..some 1 else posted a tease w sd +10 and over 40 i think this play certainly is worth a look..mabey the tease and a smaller play on the ml

                    Offense to play
defense to play on certain key downs
this is definitely a recipe for the over
if this game stays close the chargers should down it down late for the win
