    Can Someone explain a "Teaser"
This probably sounds so stupid to all of you, but I always just go with the spread or the O/U. I never understood the teaser.

If you chose a two team parlay and then a 6 point teaser, which way do the points shift to?

    Thanks!

The points change the line for everything. Just add or subtract 6 points to the sides and totals. Then pick the side you want to bet.

Example: Last night I did a 6 point teaser with Balt and the Over. Line was Balt -7.5 and the Over was 35. I teased the points down to -1.5 and Over 29. BUT I could have taken Pitt +13.5 and the Under at 41. Both would have won.

So when you tease 6 points do you get the 6 points on both sides?

        NO
        .
        .
        .
        .
        .

        watch for example purposes only...

First choose how many teams in the teaser...lets say 2.

Next pick how many points, lets say this is a 2 team 7 point teaser.

        Ok...next

Now you choose the 2 teams you like...say you like Minnesota -10... you take 7 points off the -10 and your first teaser choice is Min -3.

Now you choose a second team.... say you like ten -3, now you add the points...and end up with Ten +4.

So your 2 team 7 point teaser would have been ...

        Min -3
        Ten +4

If both cover you win...as in this case... You may also want to see how your book grades a push/tie...some grade as a loss!

But in this case this example teaser is a winner...

so what is the benefit of playing teasers (besides obviously making your bets a little safer)?

wouldn't it pay out less than a regular parlay?

They usually are -120, which means if you bet $500 you win $500 or you lose $600

They are not always safer because both teams have to win, it is like a safer parley

you could bet both sides of a game on a teaser

the line on tonights game is
new orl-1-1/2 and the total is 57
you could bet a 3 team 10 pt teaser as follows

                new england+11-1/2

                over 47

                under 67
