Super Bowl repeat highly probable for the Pittsburgh Steelers organization
11/13/2009 10:15:47 PM by The General

Super Bowl repeat highly probable for the Pittsburgh Steelers organization.

My preseason prediction of Minnesota vs. New England meeting in the Super Bowl is still possible. The odds of such match up are not unthinkable. Better and less priced odds though are with New Orleans vs. Pittsburgh in my opinion.

It appears that the NFC representative will have to go through New Orleans, arguably the very best team in the NFL, especially at home in the super dome. They do have a favorable schedule remaining to obtain home field advantage throughout the playoffs. If the Saints played a game against my preseason predicted NFC champion Minnesota today in New Orleans, I'd pick the Saints.

To me, Dallas and Arizona seem the next best and maybe Green Bay if the offensive line improves quite a bit in the next weeks. Aaron Rodgers is the #2 performer in Fantasy football this season behind only Jacksonville's Maurice Jones-Drew. The New York Giants should only improve. The Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons should get mentioned.

In the AFC currently, Pittsburgh is my pick over my preseason thoughts on New England. Again, if I had to make a pick between Pittsburgh and New England today, I'd pick the Steelers. Then in the AFC I think Indianapolis and New England are pretty equal in a one game playoff situation. In no particular order, I rank the Bengals, Chargers, Broncos and Ravens behind the top 3 AFC teams in my opinion: Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots.

We'll know more after this weeks marquee games of the Bengals vs. Steelers and the Colts vs. Patriots.

NFL Top Defense: Giants, Jets, Broncos, Packers, Steelers

NFL Top Offense: Saints, Patriots, Cowboys, Colts, Steelers

NFL Top Rushing: Jets, Titans, Panthers, Dolphins, Saints

NFL Top Passing: Colts, Patriots, Texans, Saints, Steelers

Just some quick week 10 thoughts.

A trip to Miami lies ahead for the 2009 AFC and NFC football champions.

A good NFL discussion ongoing and maybe for a future blog post is Who is the Leagues Most Valuable Player? The names atop the list today are Drew Brees, Peyton Manning and Brett Favre. To be determined.

While we're here though, the leagues top five QB's by passer rating: Drew Brees 106.1, Brett Favre 106.0, Peyton Manning 105.2, Ben Roethlisberger 104.1, and Aaron Rodgers 103.3.

I'll pass on a rant today, but why do the most important players on a team get so little attention, discussion and media respect. THE OFFENSIVE LINEMEN!

It appears to be a bad week for the Jets, huh after the Indy win over New England.

There'd be a few teams sweating right now if the Steelers somehow got in. Apparently they just got lazy or careless.

Yes, no doubt in my mind Pitt would be a nice fav to repeat had they got in the playoffs. Just proof about on any given day in the NFL. Nobody wanted any of the Steelers in playoffs.
