NFL Week 6 features interesting lines on some marquee showdowns between elite teams, as well as some less-than-marquee showdowns between ugly teams, all possibly providing good betting opportunities. SBR.tv’s Peter Loshak looks into some of these games with input from LT Profits.
The total on the Houston/Cincinnati game opened at 45 and has crept up to 46, which Loshak and LT Profits still see as likely a tick or two too low. Both the Texans and Bengals have live passing games, capable of producing points in a hurry.
With foul weather a possibility and sub-par football teams a certainty in Washington this Sunday, the game between the Chiefs and the Redskins may become a war of attrition. If it does, there may be value with KC getting 6.5 points, as Washington has struggled against all comers this year, beating 2 NFL bottom-feeders at home by only a total of 5 points. But LT Profits is holding his nose and leaning towards the Skins for a cover here, citing a possible letdown by the Chiefs after a demoralizing near-win last week against Dallas, as well as Washington’s capable defense as key factors.
LT Profits picked Seattle to win the NFC West, and likes them to cover as a 3-point home favorite against Arizona, despite suffering from extensive injuries on the offensive line. If the Seahawks’ makeshift offensive line can protect QB Matt Hasselbeck, Seattle could be in for a big day as the Cardinals rank last in the NFL in pass defense. LT further notes that Seattle enjoys a strong home-field advantage, having gone 10-2 ATS in their last 12 home games.
The Jets are a 9.5-point home favorite over visiting Buffalo, and they might be a side with value here. The Jets are extremely disappointed over their loss to Miami last Monday night, and they see this game as a must-win, despite the Bills being just 1-4 and the season only being in Week 6. Making things worse for Buffalo is the fact that they are having serious problems at linebacker, which Loshak goes into in detail. LT Profits chimes in that while he usually shies away from big favorites, this might be one that might have value.
