Chargers Favorite Over Broncos?

Putting all comparisons aside of the teams' various offensive and defensive strengths and weaknesses for the moment, why are so many people eager to bet against a team (any team) when they've been winning? I see way too many people justifying their SD pick with "The Broncos have to lose sometime" or some variation on it. I think by this point, even the skeptics have to admit that Denver has been an under-rated team this year. How many games does a team have to win before people stop trying to justify why the other team lost? A win is a win. Blame it on the coinflip? Luck is a big part of winning...

That being said, if you genuinely believe that the Chargers will be the better team, then bet them. However, I feel like a lot of the reasons people have suggested why SD will win are trend based, and you can find historical reasons to justify pretty much any team in any situation (Norv Turner is the only coach in the AFC with a win in the playoffs for the last 2 years? Really? That's relevant how?).

I would much rather ride a win streak and be wrong once than second guess the team that has continued to impress, week after week.

As always, it's all about line value. If the Broncos were not 5-0, this line would be SD -4 or -4.5. And yes, when both teams are fully healthy, the Chargers are the better team.

But can SD win by more than a field goal. The Denver D is the real deal so far. Remember this Defense gave up only 16 point in the first 3 games, and gave zero 2nd half points to the Patriots and the Cowboy. Both pretty prolific offenses.

Yes but not to take anything away from their great performance vs. New England, it is easier to play defense when you know what's coming.

But still, you are right that they have been very solid all year. It's just that the Chargers are a dangerous team as they start getting their walking wounded back, especially with two weeks to prepare.

Didn't we go through this same caca last year with Denver? I believe that they were the team with the 3 game lead in the AFC West with 3 to play and blew it. I also believe that Denver has not covered against San Diego in their last 5 tries, and has not covered in San Diego in the past 3 years. I can not take Denver. San Diego is also 6-3 as a home favorite on Monday Nights, while Denver is 5-10 as an away dog. Denver will have to prove that they are the real deal before I wager on them against San Diego. I would love to see them win this game, and finally put to rest the notion that San Diego is good, but I will not wager on it.

San Diego defense incredibly soft up the middle now, and Denver incredibly strong at running it there. Denver has such a big advantage in the run matchups this week that as long as they can limit the Chargers' deep passing game (and Denver has been very good defending deep passes so far) they can once again win as a dog.

I'm still not sold on Denver. I think they got very lucky to get to 5/0. Im not sold on Orton either. Hailing from Philly I am a big fan of B Dawk. His leadership is is the missing link in the Birds D and I'm sure the glue to Denvers. I think I'll try to stay away from this one but I know the degenerate in me has to make a play on Monday night. That being said I wouldn't be at all suprised to see Denver at 5/3 by week 8. @SD @Balt Pitt at home. They win 2 out of 3 and I'll jump on the wagon. I hope they do for the sake of my boy Dawkins.
