15 yards for roughing the passer is harsh but I don't mind in this instance because I am on the over.

Zebras decided Cincy game today. Three penalties on final drive. And now on MNF two 15 yarders on the final 1H drive. Last week the Pats won because of brushing the QB. It's out of control.

no its not. Everyone knows the rules. The Ravens are WAY too aggressive. It just happened to kill them today. All they had to do was loosen up their coverage and not play so aggressively. They were winning by 4 when the Bengals started their drive.

In the pats-broncos game the ref through a penalty during the play, but the penalty was for taunting after the play.

Most roughing the passer and defenseless receiver penalties are a joke. Many of these calls are not penalties in high school and college(until this past year).

The defenseless receiver calls are ridiculous. If the receiver catches the ball its not called but if he drops it then it is called. Dont lay out/ jump for the ball if you dont want to get hit. D-back is the toughest job in the league right now, they have to deal with PI, holding, illegal contact and hitting a defenseless receiver. Its all about more offense which is suppose to equal more $$$$ evidently.

I don't mind roughing the passer/kicker calls, if they happen late.

What I do hate are legitimate tackles either helmet to helmet or leg tackles that are called during the game.. you are a quarterback and a football player - pull up your panties and act like one. These guys are highest paid players in the game, they need to be able to take a hit.

I forgot what game it was (ten? den?)... but the lineman/line backer was PUSHED into the QB and they were penalized for 15 yrds. It was a disgusting call...

yea, its gettin bad. Now, you can't even block below the waist, so they pretty much took the cut block out of the league. That's changing the game a bit too much. I can think of three or four QBs that have been called for blocks below the waist, or "crack back" blocks (Cutler, Sanchez, etc.). So they want QB's lunging into linebackers. But then they call roughing the passer when the weak side linebacker gets pushed into the QB's throwing arm. It makes no sense.

THe one thing I will say is that the defensless receiver rule is a good one, when its called correctly. Defensive players are so ridiculously fast these days, its like getting hit by a car. People say the rules have gotten softer, which is true, but thats because the players have gotten bigger and faster.

The problem, too, is the refs are inconsistent in calling it. In that same game Joe Flacco really did get hit late and nothing was called. I had no wager on the game so I'm not whining b/c my team lost. I don't understand how brady gets brushed and that's a penalty while Flacco gets clobbered late in the same game, and nothing. I guess Brady is more important to the league than Flacco.

Baltimore lost todays game for just being plain silly! Let me Explain, The calls in the pats game were crap I agree, but after the game the idiots run there mouth about the bad calls, and bring even more attention to themselves. Now you have the refs and the referee botherhood lookin for stuff, to put these idiots in there place. The Ray Lewis, Chad Johnson hit was a flag, but wouldn't have been if 1.) he doesn't run his mouth earlier in the week 2.) Doesn't try to knock his head off into section 205. The other pass interference call was close but maybe the Ravens don't get that call against them if 1.) They keep there mouth shut and quit bringing attention to themselves. 2.) Ray Lewis shuts up about the flag against him for his hit against Chad.

Overall I agree the flags are getting out of control, everytime I watch a sack, or a near-sack you're lookin for a flag(and so are the players. Enough of the flags, but the players complaining about it do nothing but make it harder on themselves. The only way it will change, is if it costs the Partriots a game or enough fans complain.

I agree Roger Goodell is the biggest scum bag there is. He's as fake and crooked as they come. I can't wait until he gets caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

I do not agree with the flags being thrown in the colts, bengals game as being wrong. Fact is, ray Lewis hit Chad Johnson after they ball passed him and lead with his head. no one's picking on Lewis he just makes some boneheaded decisions. For the Colts, VandenBosh tried to roll into Mannings knees a couple times after he threw the ball.. He also got away with some face mask penaltys that the refs never called. I guess they felt sorry for them

The way to beat the Colts is to get to Manning. Otherwise he'll pick teams apart. But if the refs don't allow that anymore, what can you do? TEN was right in that game at 9-14 with a minute left in the half. Their game plan was working. After that drive with two 15 yard penalties for 'brushing the passer' the game was over. That's too much of a momentum shift, resulting from judgment calls that other zebras may ignore. The refs killed the game. If this happens once in a while, ok. Garbage in, garbage out. But that is no longer the case. The f*cking Brady rule is now really affecting the standings.

Brushing the passer has nothing to do with roughing the passer.

the worst call in the NFL and the most widely abused call by the refs is illegal contact past 5 yards by a DB...you can't touch the WR? this is a contact sport right

rezkoness69- I understand what you are saying about defenseless receiver but I disagree for two reasons. First, if the receiver dives drops the ball it is called but if he hangs on then it is hitting a defenseless receiver. Secondly, if the QB hangs the WR out to dry he doesnt have to layout to catch the ball. The only time it should ever be called is if the ball is well past the receiver and then the receiver is hit. I guess that is just how I feel about it. I completely agree about the illegal contact, its a BS penalty and should definetely not be an automatic first down.
