Well here we go, week 3. I should of made a thread last Sun, I was 2-1, but I didnt post it so it is not added to my record. Not that my roll would be too different anyway. So onto my plays...
Baltimore -13 (-120) 2 units
Im gonna start off by saying that this is not the Ravens D of past years, still a great defense none the less. That being said this is not the Ravens O of past years either it is better, the running game is supreme right now with Willis McGahee and Ray Rice and with the Cleveland Browns sitting 31st in NFL in stopping the run they both look to shine, granted Adrian Peterson had something to do with the bad ranking still, did you see those pathetic tackle attempts? Baltimore is also allowing Flacco to show off his arm which concerns me cause as of now Cleveland sits 7th in the league against the pass, but facing Kyle Orton and a limited Farve can explain that. Ravens still have Todd Heap and Derek Mason so I think Flacco can spot some holes in the defensive secondary. I noticed Ed Reed is questionable, but I still think there D is too much for Cleveland and Quinn to handle. The only person on Cleveland I'm worried about is Josh Cribbs, with such big chalk one a his returns for a TD could blow everything, but this looks to be the worst Browns team I've seen in 3 years and until they can get some consistency or prove they can play fundamentally sound football I can't see them sticking around in this game. This is the one of the few times you will see me lay this much chalk. C'mon RAVENS!
New York Jets -3 (+110) 1 unit
IDK why but I have been obsessing about this game since last Sunday night. I am absolutely in love with Rex Ryan's coaching ability, they rotated 10 DB's last week, 10! With tremendous success, which is why I am not worried about the absence of Lito Shepherd. Kris Jenkins is a great nose tackle to go up against Kevin Mawae to help pressure Tenn's O inside forcing the backs to go outside against a fast great hitting defense. I think if the Jets can establish a run game against a good Tennessee D-line, with Thomas Jones and get Leon Washington some screen passes in space to utilize his speed they can get Tenn to ease up pressure and if they dont I'm confident Sanchez can hit a big one on em. Cotchery and Stuckey have become consistent targets for Sanchez who throws such a pretty ball. I like the NYJ speed on defense to really get Collins into a bad rythym and with ability to disguise and mix up blitz packages Tennesse must rely on their RB's, best tandem in league but if you cant pass on the road youd better play flawless D, which Tennesse secondary HAS NOT ranking 32nd in the league in pass defense, yea Andre Johnson made some great catches but that Tenny secondary has issues in zone coverage. Going back to Tennessee offense, they have no REALLY GREAT route runners, NO amazing hands and as I mentioned I love Jets secondary, especially in this match-up. This is gonna be great one, one I won't regret if I lose cause I should know better than to go against Jeff Fisher whos 0-2. IDK why but 24-20 Jets keeps coming to mind. I dont like the +110 number, but damn I have gotten burned altering my picks according to numbers and line movement, which yea I should of a few times but my mind isn't attracted to those games.
