Giants didn't even make it to Conference finals AFTER 911 (they had played and lost earlier that year). In 2002, St Louis beat Philly in NFC championship to advance to SuperBowl at New Orleans where New England beat the Rams when Vinatieri hit 48 yarder as time expired...

Didn't the Yankees win the World Series after 9/11? Maybe that's what he was thinking.

Also, the Patriots winning the Super Bowl after 9/11 maybe represented the "Patriotism" of the U.S. as a nation in the aftermath of 9/11.
