NFL Needs to Consider Some XFL Rules
Ok, I'm pretty pessimistic about the XFL making it past it's first season but I do think the NFL could help the game by at least considering some of the XFL rules. A lot of the rules are focused on making the game more exciting but seem kind of gimmicky. However, a couple of rules kind of make sense and would probably be welcomed by NFL fans.

First, the double-forward pass rule seems to make sense. I don't see why a pass behind the line of scrimmage should be illegal since we have players performing weird trick plays involving RB's and WR's throwing the ball all the time. Why should the direction of the throw matter as long as it's still behind the line of scrimmage?

Second, I like the pass possession rule. As long as a player is touching the ground with one foot while controlling ball then it should count. How does the second foot create more of a "catch"? The XFL rules section even states the rationale as having a ball caught with the hands and not the feet. That actually makes too much sense!

I REALLY like the extra point and overtime rules but they seem too radically different and would change the game too much. The NFL will probably ignore this league completely but it would be nice if they at least picked up a few ideas while the XFL enjoys it's brief life expectancy on this earth.
