ARI - RB Chase Edmonds likely out multiple games

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Arizona Cardinals RB Chase Edmonds (hamstring) is expected to miss 'a few weeks' with a hamstring strain, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The hamstring injury is fairly serious, so the team is shutting him down for a bit. That's why they went out and traded for RB Kenyan Drake on Monday. Drake could be the starter for the Cardinals in Week 9 on Thursday night against the 49ers.

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake was acquired by the Arizona Cardinals Monday, Oct. 28, in exchange for a conditional 2020 draft pick.

The Cardinals needed help in the backfield with David Johnson and Chase Edmonds both banged up. It's a short week for the Cardinals as they play on Thursday night in Week 9, so Drake only has a few days to get up to speed. He could be in for a heavy workload in his first game with his new team.

CHI - Chicago sticking with QB Mitchell Trubisky

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeff Dickerson

Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky will remain the starting quarterback for the foreseeable future, according to comments made by head coach Matt Nagy on Monday, Oct. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Trubisky is their starter but he's not playing well. They'll stick with him because he was such a high draft pick in 2017, but Trubisky has clearly taken a step back in his third year of starting.

DEN - QB Joe Flacco injury update

Source: The Athletic - Nicki Jhabvala

Updating previous reports, Denver Broncos QB Joe Flacco (neck) is dealing with a herniated disc in his neck, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Flacco is going to miss Week 9 against the Browns. The Broncos have a bye week after that, then we'll see if Flacco can return to the field. The possibility of him ending his season on Injured Reserve is there but we'll have to wait to see if that happens in a couple of weeks.

JAX - QB Nick Foles expected to stay with team

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Nick Foles is not expected to be moved before the trade deadline even with QB Gardner Minshew's solid play this season, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone has not yet thought about the quarterback situation. He doesn't need to right now with Foles still injured and Minshew playing good football. We'll see if Foles can get back to the field in a couple of weeks and if the Jaguars would put him on the bench.

CAR - Another start for Kyle Allen

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Carolina Panthers QB Kyle Allen will be the starting quarterback against the Tennessee Titans in Week 9, according to head coach Ron Rivera.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers made quick work of the Allen-led Panthers. That is not changing the team's mindset about Cam Newton's recovery. Rivera said Newton (foot) is in the middle of his rehab.

ATL - QB Matt Ryan should return after bye

    Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Kelsey Conway

Atlanta Falcons QB Matt Ryan (ankle) should be ready to play after the team's Week 9 bye, according to head coach Dan Quinn. Quinn said Ryan likely would be able to play if the team had a game this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Matt Schaub will go back to being the backup to Ryan. We'll know more about his playing status after the team's bye week.

TB - TE O.J. Howard unlikely to be traded

    Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine

Tampa Bay Buccaneers TE O.J. Howard (hamstring) continues to be a hot topic in trade circles as multiple teams have inquired about him, but ESPN's Jenna Laine has been told it would require 'a substantial offer' in order for him to get dealt before the trade deadline on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Howard has talent but he's not getting showcased with the Buccaneers. We'll see if some team like New England or Seattle makes a stronger move for the talented young tight end before the trade deadline on Tuesday afternoon.

NE - QB Cody Kessler back with New England

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Free-agent QB Cody Kessler (Patriots) signed an undisclosed contract with the New England Patriots on Monday, Oct. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kessler has bounced on and off the Patriots roster more than a couple of times this year. He'll work in the quarterback rotation behind Tom Brady.

PHI - RB Miles Sanders expected to be fine

Source: The Athletic - Zach Berman

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders (shoulder) may be limited in practice somewhat during the week, but he 'won't miss time' after receiving good news after undergoing tests Monday, Oct. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sanders made some big plays for the Eagles on Sunday. We'll be curious to see if the rookie back starts getting more work in the Eagles backfield going forward. Expect him to be limited somewhat in practice this week.

PHI - WR DeSean Jackson ready to ramp things up?

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper

Philadelphia Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (abdomen) will reportedly get incorporated into practice 'a little bit' on Wednesday, Oct. 30, according to comments made by head coach Doug Pederson during his press conference Monday, Oct. 28.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team has been patiently waiting for Jackson's return. His deep speed and presence as a big-play target has been sorely missed on offense. We'll see what kind of work Jackson can get in during the week.

DEN - RB Royce Freeman has shoulder issue

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos RB Royce Freeman (shoulder) was favoring his shoulder after the game Sunday, Oct. 27.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Freeman is limited during the week of practice. The Broncos are at home to play the Browns in Week 9. Phillip Lindsay is the starting running back, but Freeman gets plenty of work (including goal-line work) in the Denver backfield.
