NE - WR Antonio Brown Accused Of Rape In Lawsuit

    Source: ESPN

    From ESPN:

"Antonio Brown has been accused of sexually assaulting his former trainer, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday in the Southern District of Florida.

"In May 2018, after a night out at a Miami-area club, Taylor says she went back to Brown's home in Miami to use the bathroom and grab some food when the receiver "forced her down onto a bed, pushed her face into the mattress, and forcibly raped her."

"Brown's lawyer, Darren Heitner, said in a statement Tuesday night that the receiver and Taylor were involved in a "consensual personal relationship. Any sexual interaction with Mr. Brown was entirely consensual."

This is obviously a serious and ugly situation and the league will be looking into this closely.

OAK - Coach heaps praise on TE Darren Waller

Source: Las Vegas Review Journal - Myles Simmons

Oakland Raiders TE Darren Waller played all 55 of the team's offensive snaps in Week 1 against Denver Broncos. Head coach Jon Gruden suggested Waller's role didn't necessarily grow because Antonio Brown wasn't there anymore.'We're going to get the ball to Waller. Waller's special,' Gruden told Myles Simmons of the Las Vegas Review Journal.

Waller had a good game against the Broncos on Monday night. Part of that is his natural skill set and part of that is the Broncos inability to cover tight ends. Waller is a TE2 with upside for Fantasy GMs, and it will be interesting to see if he can stay healthy and play up to his potential.

NYJ - NY Jets trade pick for WR Demaryius Thomas

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New England Patriots WR Demaryius Thomas was traded to the New York Jets in exchange for a 2021 sixth-round draft pick on Tuesday, Sept. 10, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas is reunited with Adam Gase after this move. It will be interesting to see how he fits on the depth chart with his new team. Robby Anderson is the No. 1 receiver and Jamison Crowder can get a ton of work. Perhaps Thomas, if healthy, can work his way into the No. 3 spot in the pecking order at the position.

CAR - TE Greg Olsen expects to play in Week 2

Source: The Associated Press - Steve Reed

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (back) told reporters Tuesday, Sept. 10, that he 'plans' to play in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after getting 'jacked up' in the season opener versus the Los Angeles Rams.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No worries here. The Panthers have given Olsen a bit of a break on a short week but he was good to go in the opener and showed no setbacks. Olsen can produce like a low-end TE1 for Fantasy GMs in Week 2 against the Buccaneers.

PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster provides optimism

Source: NFL Network - James Palmer

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (toe) has given the team optimism for his Week 2 status, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Steelers offense needs Smith-Schuster in a bad way. The toe injury is considered minor, so we'll wait for his practice status during the week.

DET - Coach reaffirms trust in QB Matthew Stafford

Source: The Associated Press - Matt Schoch

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford has the full trust of his coaching staff after television cameras caught him appearing to say 'trust me' after a timeout was called by the sideline with the play clock winding down ahead of a third-and-5 play in the fourth quarter of Sunday's tie against the Arizona Cardinals. 'To sum it up, like 1,000 percent,' head coach Matt Patricia said Monday, Sept. 9, when asked about his trust level with Stafford. 'Everyone knows how much I think of, how highly I think of him and trust him. There's no issue.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Lions let that game get away, mostly on defense when the Cardinals offense came to life. Stafford is a seasoned veteran who should trust his coach and vice versa.

CAR - QB Cam Newton can throw deep ball when he needs to

    Source: Panthers.com - Bill Voth

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton assured reporters Tuesday, Sept. 10, he'll be able to throw the deep ball whenever it's required. 'If it's going to hinder us from winning, I don't want to throw it. But if it's going to make us win, 'Oh, baby,' you better throw some doggone deep balls,' Newton said while impersonating offensive coordinator Norv Turner.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It takes some time getting used to Newton's new throwing motion because it's more compact and different than he used to throw. Newton underwent arthroscopic surgery on his throwing shoulder in the offseason and has changed his motion in an effort to minimize the torque on the joint.

HOU - WR Kenny Stills earning bigger role

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans WR Kenny Stills was limited to 27 of the team's 64 snaps in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints, primarily because he was acquired so late in the preseason, according to comments made by head coach Bill O'Brien.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

According to the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson, the Texans plan to expand his role as he learns more of the playbook. That makes sense. It also makes sense because Keke Coutee can't stay healthy. Stills has some 'what the heck' flex upside at least in this passing game.

TB - RB Peyton Barber remains starter for now

Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber will get the start again in Week 2 over Ronald Jones, although head coach Bruce Arians suggested he will go with the 'hot hand' after Jones gets a chance to mix in.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Barber was the lead back in Week 1 against the 49ers, even though Ronald Jones was the more exciting back. We'll see if Jones can continue to make plays as a reserve runner and earn a larger role, perhaps even replacing Barber as the starter. In the meantime, Jones is a flex play with upside against the Panthers on Thursday night.
