Overall: 7-5, +2.64
so we have two double digit streaks going on this week with the Falcons now on a 10 game losing streak(0-10 ATS) in the preseason while the Ravens have held an impressive 14 game winning streak(12-2 ATS) dating back to 2016.
Jets/Falcons
The Falcons have been ahead in these games in the 1st half but in the 2nd half they seem to have trouble closing it out. Maybe situational awareness is something Dan Quinn needs to practice more on in these prrseason games to get some "good habits" so his team doesnt choke on games that matter.
the one thing i am zeroing in on is: the Jets secondary. This area already looked like a position of weakness heading into training camp and so far those concerns were realized when they allowed 374 yds passing to the Giants last week. Compared to last season the secondary had some veteran depth but it was still an underwhelming group overall. This year half their cornerbacks on the current roster are comprised of mostly undrafted rookies and the other half 3 years of experience or less. Trumaine Johnson going down with a hamstring injury isnt helping matters. Promising young safety Jamal Adams is going to need lots of help this season. Having Marcus Maye back will improve the situation a bit but its hard to see him playing much this Thursday. I dont expect marked improvements so quickly as the Jets secondary is in line for another +300 yds performance against a competitive Falcons recieving unit
The few concerns I have backing the Falcons is Dan Quinn.. of course. The Falcons also need to work on their pass protection, run defense and special teams. 3rd string QB Benkurt is out for the season so we may have to rely on below average Matt Simms to maintain the lead. Fortunately, Jets backup QB's arent all that great either so its a wash. I'll take my chances going against Davis Webb
Falcons -1.5 , 0.5u
got this line in the morning. now its -2 currently i'd still recommend it at this line.
