Jack Del Rio is a fool
Made an enormous blunder in the final minutes of Jax's loss to Kansas City.

Chiefs had 1st and 10 around the Jax 38 with 2:33 left. Johnson runs for 3 yards but KC hit with a holding call. Instead of 1st and 20, Del Rio declines and leaves them 2nd and 7. Chiefs get the first down on the next two plays with runs of 6 and 3 yards.

He easily should have taken the penalty. The clock stopped with the penalty and he still had two timeouts, plus the 2-minute warning to defend 3 running plays. No way KC would have put the ball in the air and Jax would have gotten the ball back with about 1:50 left down 35-30.

It's amazing how these coaches are employed. Many do not have a clue about clock management.

Why would you decline a holding call? Plain stupid.

Because on paper, you don't want to give them the extra down to burn clock. That's fine when you're really short on time. They had enough time and timeouts to take the penalty, allow three runs from KC and still get the ball back. It's crazy.

I had KC, so I'll take it, especially after KC almost blew this game.

The question was never raised by the announcers (what a shock). I'll have to check the Jax papers online to see if anyone questioned it.

Here is what each team needs in the box for these situations.

Each team should have a guy in the box with the coaches who has a sizeable bet on the game for their team.Your awareness factor goes up so high when you have a bet where you can calculate everything going on like strategy on these penalty situations whether to decline or not etc.No coach can compete with a guy who's betting big on the game as to what the best strategy should be in these situations.
