Fantasy Discussion: Will Gurley play in Week 16? Time to trade him?
The trade deadline is tomorrow and I have Gurley on about 4 teams. I am questioning whether or not I should try to trade him for Gordon, Kamara, or Barkley, because I'm worried he isn't going to play in Week 16 when my Championship is held. They have a 3 game lead and there is a good chance they will have a bye wrapped up by then. On top of that, he has a team bye in Week 12. Obviously, he is killing it this year and the #1 fantasy player, but potentially missing 2 games makes me wonder if I should trade him. He averages 3 more points per game than Gordon, but that would easily be made up when he has a bye week and especially if he sits in Week 16. Gordon has a better chance at playing in Week 16 IMO, as the Chargers are only a game back in their division and may have to fight for a wild card spot. The Giants have no reason to save Barkley at the end of the year, but there's a chance Kamara could be in the same boat as Gurley.
Some of the teams I have him on, I might be able to take the chance and hold on to him because I have a potential decent replacement, and other teams I'd be hit a little harder if Gurley missed week 16.
Anyways, I'm interested to hear your thoughts and let me know if you have similar concerns about any other player that there is a chance they will sit in Week 16. Rams, Saints, Chiefs, would be the top concerns but there could even be a team like the Steelers who don't have a chance at a Bye, but have their division wrapped up, it can be a real headache for owners, that's for sure.
