    "Madden Curse" predictions?

You guys know the drill and the history. What happens to Fitz and Troy in 2009? Predictions?

Larry has Week 1 ACL tear written all over him. Troy I just see a big dropoff in production level, perhaps precipitated by so-called "nagging injuries"

Haven't the previous Madden covers been all QBs? I think so but I maybe wrong. If they were all QBs then maybe the curse doesn't apply.

Shaun Alexander was on a cover the year he imploded. Think Ray Lewis too but if memory serves the curse skipped that year.

The NCAA demos out too, and this years Madden should be off the hook but the Madden curse has not been in effect for a few years now.

As long as Az and Pit don't play each other, they should be fine... havent checked out Pre Season skeds, but if they do, I fear a double injury when troy tries tackling fitz

Isn't Fitz do for an injury? I don't recall him having any injuries that took him out a couple games. It's bound to happen this year! GODDAMMIT

Fitz is the best WR in the league. Anyone that doesn't agree can

he reminds me of Ronaldhino (sp?) in soccer with the way he moves... guy is just silky smooth and deceptively fast

Dang, I guess you guys don't know the history. I'll fill it in.

2009-Brett Favre Cover. It's obvious to me that Favre played the last 5 games with a messed up arm, he even said so in the Joe Buck interview a few days ago. We can question Favre's integrity here, probably playing just to extend his consecutive game streak, but his injury cost the Jets the playoffs, their season, Favre's stay in NY, etc. That's a hell of a lot of crap, so I say that Favre got the curse. It'll be proven in time when we see Favre have a great season with the Vikings, making people realize that last year with the NYJ wasn't because he was old or inept, but cursed.

2008-Vince Young-This is a tough one to grade, 9 TD, 17 Int 2546 yards in 15 starts. But he took his team to the playoffs when Indy layed down for the Titans week 17, anyone remember that game? Plus Young did battle a nagging quad injury that season, but still made the starts. Another thing is that Young did his magic with his legs more than with his arm, 393 yards 3 TD, so the above stats can be deceptive. Plus, it was the next season when he had those mental breakdowns or whatever, so this maybe counts as the Madden Curse.

2007-Shaun Alexander-He missed 6 games with a broken foot, but still had 896 yards and 7 TDs with a 3.6 avg. It was considered to have continued the curse.

2006-Donovan McNabb-Ripped up his ACL week 11, ending his season.

2005-Ray Lewis-He saw a drop in production, missed the last game and the playoffs.

The rest are similar, check the link below for details, here are the years & names.
                        2004-Michael Vick
                        2003-Marshall Faulk
                        2002-Dante Culpepper
                        2001-Eddie George
                        2000-Barry Sanders/Dorsey Levins
                        1999-Garrison Hearst

Fitz almost didn't get up in practice a few weeks ago. He shook it off. Should be fine the rest of the way.

                              Uhh, right. Andre Johnson.

Andre Johnson = very good --- Fitz = Great

Fitz=God, based on last year's playoff performance.

So, what can we expect with two players on the cover this year? Is Troy Palumalu the sacrificial lamb, so that Fitz can have an incredible season? I mean, the curse exists. Now they are hedging their bets, so at least one of them has a breakout season? What if they both end up on IR? lmao

No way. It's bad enough when they only had one player to evade the curse, now they've got two. At least one or the other will get it.

But, you might have the odds in your favor as far as position. WRs tend to be one of the more durable positions in the NFL. DBs are probably next on the list. (I'm not counting special teams players) In fact, QB & RB take a pretty good pounding. Maybe it shouldn't be such a surprise the way the curse has played out thus far with a predominate lineup of QBs and RBs. Maybe changing it up this year will make a difference and bust the curse.
