How utterly dumb can one organization be? Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't it the Cleveland Browns that drafted some hot shot QB named Manziel back in 2014. He was one of the TWO 1st round picks that the Browns had that season. The other pick was wasted on some DB named Justin Gilbert. His biggest play was to get suspended for one year by the NFL.
Not to be discouraged, the Browns wasted two more 1st round picks in 2015 by taking Danny Shelton and Cameron Erving. Shelton is a good run stopper. Erving is a complete bust. Neither player is close to a 1st round caliber player.
in 2016, the Browns had only one first round pick to waste, and they did so by picking Corey Coleman, a WR who has broken his hands twice during his short career, and cannot hang on to a pass thrown at him. Another waste.
Having failed at just one and two first round picks, the Browns tried three 1st round picks in 2017, opting for DE Miles Garrett, S Jabrill Peppers, and TE David Njoku. While it is early to judge these players, Garrett missed 5 games due to injury last season, Peppers played in 13 games and was considered by some to be "disappointing" by many for a 1st round selection, and Njoku had 32 receptions in 16 games as a TE for the Browns, the best performance out of the three first round picks.
So with this record of futility, Cleveland keeps their HC, replaces their front office, and ends up with two first round picks again, this time #'s 1 and 4. So who do they take? A Manziel clone and a CB wh may or may not be a star, while passing up 3 other QB,s who were ranked higher than their pick and perhaps the best player in the draft at #4.
And Cleveland fans wonder why they will NEVER see a Superbowl, much less win another terrible job by a terrible organization.
