NFL Player News - Week 12
    DEN - Mike McCoy fired

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy was fired Monday, Nov. 20, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos offense has been incredibly bad this year and something had to change. They don't have a quality starting quarterback and McCoy seemed reluctant to utilize a simpler scheme to help out either Trevor Siemian or Brock Osweiler.

DEN - Bill Musgrave promoted to OC

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Denver Broncos quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave was promoted to offensive coordinator Monday, Nov. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We should soon be seeing the promotion of 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch into the starting lineup. Musgrave has a ton of experience as an offensive coordinator and recently had a ton of success in Oakland with Derek Carr. We'll see if he can implement an offense that plays to Lynch's strengths.

CLE - QB DeShone Kizer will start the rest of season

Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot

Cleveland Browns QB DeShone Kizer will start for the rest of the season, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Browns want to evaluate Kizer to see if he can develop his game as the season goes on and he gets more experience. With WR Corey Coleman back in action, the Browns passing game has a chance to do more. Kizer threw two interceptions on Sunday, and the rookie has 14 picks on the season. The Browns will likely have the no.1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft and could be targeting a top QB (Josh Rosen, Lamar Jackson) with that pick.

CAR - TE Greg Olsen expects to play

Source: Charlotte Observer - Joseph Person

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Olsen has been clear that he wants to return this week against the Jets. His return to the offense is a boost for QB Cam Newton and the rest of the passing game. Olsen has TE1 upside even if he's eased back into the lineup.

Washington Redskins TE Vernon Davis (back) fully participated in practice Monday, Nov. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Reed out on Monday, Davis fully participating is a good sign. We'll see Washington play on Thursday against the Giants and Davis could be their starting tight end. That makes him a potential TE1 for fantasy owners.

IND - Coach optimistic about QB Jacoby Brissett

Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer

Indianapolis Colts QB Jacoby Brissett (concussion) is still going through the concussion protocol, but head coach Chuck Pagano said he believes Brissett should be able to play in Week 12. He received most of the snaps during the team's workout Monday, Nov. 20.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brissett should continue through the protocol this week with the idea that he can fully practice by Friday. The Colts are home against the Titans on Sunday in Week 12.

ARI - QB Carson Palmer sheds cast

Source: FOX Sports Radio 910 - Mike Jurecki

Arizona Cardinals QB Carson Palmer (arm) recently had his cast removed from his injured arm, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It has already been said that Palmer could return later this season, and this is a step in the right direction. The Cardinals have a 4-6 record, which likely keeps them out of the playoff picture in 2017. If they're out of it (especially with another loss), then there's no need to rush Palmer back.

HOU - WR Will Fuller's status uncertain

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said he is not sure if WR Will Fuller (ribs) will be able to play in Week 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans RB Alfred Blue (hamstring) is expected to be available to play in Week 12, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Blue may be ready to play, the rookie D'Onta Foreman has cemented himself as the primary backup behind Lamar Miller. We would not see much of Blue unless something happens to Miller or Foreman ahead of him on the depth chart.

TB - QB Jameis Winston ruled out for Week 12

Source: Tampa Bay Times - Rick Stroud

Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Jameis Winston (shoulder) has not yet been cleared to throw and will sit out Week 12 against the Atlanta Falcons.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

ARI - QB Blaine Gabbert will start again

    Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban

Arizona Cardinals QB Blaine Gabbert will remain the starter at least until QB Drew Stanton (knee) is back at full health, according to head coach Bruce Arians.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cardinals lost to the Texans on Sunday, but Gabbert wasn't terrible. He did throw two interceptions, but he also tossed the ball for 257 yards and three touchdowns. He's got a tough matchup against the Jaguars in Week 12.

ARI - WR John Brown dealing with turf toe

    Source: ESPN.com - Josh Weinfuss

Arizona Cardinals WR John Brown (toe) has been diagnosed with turf toe and is likely to 'miss time,' according to head coach Bruce Arians.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If it's not one thing, it's another for John Brown. We all know he's talented and can take the top off the defense, but injuries have seemingly constantly knocked his production off track.

WAS - Surgery for WR Terrelle Pryor

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Washington Redskins WR Terrelle Pryor (ankle) is having surgery on his ankle Monday, Nov. 20, according to a source. A timetable for his recovery is not yet known.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Pryor is just getting a scope according to reports, but with only six games remaining in the regular season he might not be cleared to return in 2017. In nine games with Washington, Pryor has only 20 catches for 240 yards and one touchdown. Needless to say, this season has been a huge disappointment for Pryor and he's set to hit the free agent market in 2018.

BUF - WR Kelvin Benjamin avoids serious injury

    Source: NFL.com - Ian Rapoport

Buffalo Bills WR Kelvin Benjamin (knee) did not suffer ligament damage to his knee in Week 11, but he is still undergoing further evaluation, according to head coach Sean McDermott.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Bills offense was a disaster against the Chargers, and having Benjamin knocked out of this game didn't help. We'll watch his status during the week of practice and also see if Tyrod Taylor is going to get his starting job back after rookie Nathan Peterman threw five interceptions on Sunday.

PHI - QB Carson Wentz was evaluated for concussion

    Source: ESPN.com - Tim McManus

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wentz should be okay going forward. He made it through the game, and although he didn't have his best outing (168 passing yards) he did throw two touchdowns. Monitor his status during the week.

MIA - QB Jay Cutler in concussion protocol

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins QB Jay Cutler (concussion) is in the concussion protocol Monday, Nov. 20, and that he's still the starter when healthy, according to head coach Adam Gase.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No surprise here. Gase is sticking with Cutler as Matt Moore doesn't seem to provide the same spark as a starter that he does when coming off the bench.

GB - RB Aaron Jones arrested last month

Source: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel - Michael Cohen

Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones (knee) was arrested Oct. 1, and faces several charges stemming from a traffic stop in which he admitted to smoking marijuana. Jones has pleaded not guilty to counts of speeding, driving without a valid license and operating a vehicle with a controlled substance in his system, according to Wisconsin court records.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A fifth-round pick out of UTEP this year, Jones had flashed for the Packers as their lead back before an injury knocked him out of the lineup. He's currently recovering from an MCL injury, and this legal situation is something that could be hashed out near the end of the season.

GB - QB Brett Hundley remaining starter

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers QB Brett Hundley will remain the starter after turning it over four times in Week 11, according to head coach Mike McCarthy.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

With Aaron Rodgers potentially done for the season, the Packers don't really have a choice but to stick with Hundley. Their backup to Hundley is Joe Callahan, a 2016 UDFA out of Wesley.

BAL - RB Danny Woodhead sparsely used

Source: The Baltimore Sun - Jeff Zrebiec

Baltimore Ravens RB Danny Woodhead played 13 of 59 plays (22 percent) in Week 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team was able to get Woodhead back this week, and there's no surprise that they eased him into action. Starting RB Alex Collins played 38 of 59 snaps for the Ravens as they handily beat the Packers on Sunday. As Woodhead gets back into football shape, his role with the team should grow. He's got RB2 or flex appeal on a weekly basis for fantasy owners in PPR leagues.
