DEN - Joe Woods to be Denver's DC

Source: The Denver Post - Nicki Jhabvala

Denver Broncos defensive backs coach Joe Woods will be named the team's new defensive coordinator, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Woods is an up-and-coming coach in NFL ranks, and the team can keep the Wade Phillips system with Woods taking over. A very popular coach among the Broncos players, Woods helped craft the "No Fly Zone" aka the best secondary in the NFL. The Broncos defense should continue to be tough on opposing quarterbacks in 2017.

DEN - Denver unlikely to trade for QB Tony Romo

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

The Denver Broncos are not inclined to trade for Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo this offseason even though they are Romo's No. 1 preferred spot, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Romo struggled to stay healthy behind the league's best O-Line...what in the world could he possibly do behind Denver's Swiss cheese unit? The Broncos added Peyton Manning and it resulted in two Super Bowl appearances and one World Championship. We can't say that adding Romo would yield similar results. They're seemingly set with 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch and 2016 starter Trevor Siemian.

MIN - No timetable for QB Teddy Bridgewater

    Source: ESPN.com

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer said QB Teddy Bridgewater (knee) is doing well in his recovery from a serious knee injury but there are too many factors in the recovery to determine a return date for Bridgewater.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sam Bradford is likely to start the 2017 season as the top quarterback for the Vikings. We're hoping that Bridgewater can get back to his healthy self, but who knows when that's going to be.

GB - TE Jared Cook goes off against Dallas

    Source: ESPN.com

Green Bay Packers TE Jared Cook finished with six catches on a team-high 11 targets for 106 yards and a touchdown in a 34-31 win over the Dallas Cowboys Sunday, Jan. 15.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cook's catch to set up the game-winning field goal will be replayed for years. It was an amazing display of his athleticism, concentration and body control. Without WR Jordy Nelson, the Packers went to Cook more and he came through.

HOU - WR Will Fuller has support of coach

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans WR Will Fuller dropped a potential touchdown in a 34-16 loss to the New England Patriots Saturday, Jan. 14, but head coach Bill O'Brien said Fuller is only going to improve and the drop wasn't the difference in the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coming out of college, Fuller was comparable to Panthers WR Ted Ginn -- speed and drops is the name of his game. Fuller's concentration was always something of a concern, but he'll make enough big plays going forward to make up the difference.

CHI - QB Brian Hoyer to become free agent

    Source: Spotrac.com

Chicago Bears QB Brian Hoyer will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hoyer was limited to six games this year with the Bears. A fractured forearm ended his season after he threw for 1,445 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions. Some team in need of an experienced QB should be interested in the 31-year old veteran...most likely as depth.

ARI - RB Andre Ellington to become free agent

    Source: Spotrac.com

Arizona Cardinals RB Andre Ellington will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The speedy back could use a change of scenery if he wants a larger role. He was the primary backup to David Johnson this year and had a career-low 96 yards rushing and a career-low 85 yards receiving. He may get a chance to compete for a starting role somewhere else in 2017. Ellington will have a lot to prove as the RB position is always cramped, will get more cramped with a great RB class coming in, and Ellington's injury history is also a concern.

ARI - TE Jermaine Gresham primed to hit market

    Source: Spotrac.com

Arizona Cardinals RB Jermaine Gresham will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gresham seemed to fit with the Cardinals, and we think they could bring him back for a good price.

ARI - RB Chris Johnson set to be FA

    Source: Spotrac.com

Arizona Cardinals RB Chris Johnson will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

At 31-years old, Johnson still feels like he has something to prove. Over the last two years, Johnson has played in only 15 games. In 2016, Johnson was limited to four games as a groin injury that required surgery cut his season short. He should get a shot somewhere, but it might not be until training camp.

WAS - TE Vernon Davis will be FA

    Source: Spotrac.com

Washington Redskins TE Vernon Davis will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Davis can get one final payday. He signed a one-year deal with Washington after doing next to nothing (except winning a Super Bowl) with the Broncos in 2015. Davis was great depth behind injury prone starter Jordan Reed, and Davis performed well as a reserve or as a starter this year. If the price is right, Washington would be wise to bring him back.

WAS - WR Pierre Garcon set to be free agent

    Source: Spotrac.com

Washington Redskins WR Pierre Garcon will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Garcon wants to prove that he's more than a possession receiver. He comes off a 2016 season where he went over 1,000 yards receiving for just the second time in his career. Early speculation has Garcon as a potential target of the Baltimore Ravens in free agency.

WAS - WR DeSean Jackson to be UFA

    Source: Spotrac.com

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson is done in Washington, and there's a chance he winds up back with the Eagles. His speed would certainly be a welcome addition to the Philadelphia offense.

WAS - QB Kirk Cousins will be free agent

    Source: Spotrac.com

Washington Redskins QB Kirk Cousins will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Washington has to find a way to keep Cousins, and that may come with a long-term contract or a franchise tag for the second year in a row. With 4,917 passing yards in 2016 (4th-highest in the league), Cousins led the way through the air for the Washington passing attack. With WRs DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon likely to move on in free agency, Cousins may have to work with a revamped group of receiving weapons in 2017...if Washington keeps him.

TB - RB Jacquizz Rodgers set to be free agent

    Source: Spotrac.com

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rodgers had to start five games for the Bucs in 2016, and he was impressive when called up to do more. He should return to Tampa as a reserve/backup running back.

    18. PIT - WR Markus Wheaton will be free agent
    Source: Spotrac.com

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Markus Wheaton will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Wheaton enters free agency on a whimper. He was limited to three games this year before a labrum injury ended his season. Wheaton will have settle for a "prove it" deal on the open market.

PIT - Le'Veon Bell set to be UFA

    Source: Spotrac.com

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Le'Veon Bell will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Steelers will franchise tag Bell if they can't get a long-term deal worked out. The two sides seem to have a mutual desire to get something done.

OAK - RB Latavius Murray will be free agent

    Source: Spotrac.com

Oakland Raiders RB Latavius Murray will be an unrestricted free agent Thursday, March 9, at 4 p.m. EST.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A sixth-round pick in 2013, Murray has had quite a bit of success with the Raiders. He rushed for a career-high 12 touchdowns in 2016, and he could be brought back for more in 2017. Murray has already expressed a desire to return to the Raiders.

PIT - WR Antonio Brown may receive lucrative deal

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Antonio Brown may receive a contract extension this offseason that would make him the highest paid receiver in the NFL.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown is arguably the best receiver in Steelers history. Think about that....with Hall of Fame potential, the Steelers should make Brown the highest-paid wide receiver in the league. The deal could pay him more than the $15 million that Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green receives per season.

SEA - WR Devin Hester planning to retire

Source: The Tacoma News Tribune - Dave Boling

Seattle Seahawks WR Devin Hester said that he has probably played the final game of his NFL career. The 34-year-old returned five kickoffs for 194 yards in the loss to the Atlanta Falcons Saturday, Jan. 14, and is the league's all-time leader in return scoring.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Nobody has ever made the Hall of Fame strictly as a return man, but Hester could be the first. His 20 career return touchdowns is going to be tough to beat.
