Chicago Bears wide receiver Alshon Jeffery isn't lacking confidence in spite of his team's abysmal 3-13 record.
The Bears slumped throughout the year and were routed 38-10 by the Minnesota Vikings in the season finale Sunday. However, Jeffery believes 2016 was just a blip on the radar.
"I guarantee you we are going to win the Super Bowl next year," Jeffery said, according to Adam Hoge of WGN Radio.
The 26-year-old is slated to become an unrestricted free agent, and some noted that Jeffery could be referring to his future team. Jeffery said his future depends on general manager Ryan Pace, along with his agent, and he's likely seeking a lucrative, multi-year deal.
The fifth-year pro caught 52 passes for 821 yards and two touchdowns in 12 games this season. He was suspended for four games after violating the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy.
Jeffery's comment seems wildly optimistic at best if he was referring to his current team, which holds the third overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft.
