JAX - RB Daryl Richardson added by Jaguars

    Source: NFL

Pittsburgh Steelers RB Daryl Richardson was claimed off waivers by the Jacksonville Jaguars Monday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Richardson is a speed back who could latch on with the Jaguars with a futures deal if he impresses this final week of the regular season. They needed to add him with T.J. Yeldon on Injured Reserve.

OAK - QB Matt McGloin will start Week 17

    Source: ESPN - Adam Caplan

Oakland Raiders QB Matt McGloin will start in Week 17, while QB Connor Cook will serve as the backup.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Zero surprise here with Derek Carr likely done for the year. McGloin was successful in college at Penn State, and he might be one of the best backup QBs in the league. We'll see what he can do against the Broncos fierce pass defense in Week 17.

TB - RB Doug Martin's Week 17 status uncertain

    Source: NFL.com - Marc Sessler

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Dirk Koetter would not say if RB Doug Martin will be active for the team's Week 17 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It was a bit of a shock to see Martin a healthy scratch in Week 16. Even if he practices this week in full, there may be another decision to deactivate him for Week 17.

SEA - RB Thomas Rawls should play this week

    Source: ESPN.com - Sheil Kapadia

Seattle Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls (shoulder) will have an MRI Monday, Dec. 26, but he is expected to play in Week 17, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The shoulder injury is considered minor. Alex Collins may get more work in the backfield if they want to limit the snaps for Rawls in Week 17.

SEA - WR Tyler Lockett should be ready for camp

    Source: ESPN.com - Sheil Kapadia

Seattle Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett (knee) should be recovered in time for training camp, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lockett's injury was hard to look at, but it sounds like his pro career won't be in jeopardy from this.

HOU - RB Lamar Miller feeling better

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans RB Lamar Miller (ankle) is feeling better after sitting out Week 16 because of an ankle injury, but head coach Bill O'Brien said he is not sure if Miller will play in Week 17.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The team wants to make some noise in the postseason, and having Miller near full strength would help. They're in the postseason, but the Texans cannot improve their playoff seeding in Week 17. They won't push Miller if he's not ready.

BUF - QB Tyrod Taylor to keep starting job

Source: The Buffalo News - Jay Skurski

Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan indicated that QB Tyrod Taylor will continue to be the team's starting quarterback.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rookie Cardale Jones is too raw, and former first-round pick E.J. Manuel isn't really good at football. Taylor's future with the team is a bit of a question mark, but it's more likely Ryan is fired than Taylor is not with the team in 2017.

NYJ - QB Bryce Petty goes to IR

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New York Jets QB Bryce Petty (shoulder) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Petty got in six games this year as Ryan Fitzpatrick disappointed as the starter. The second-year pro had 809 passing yards, three touchdowns and seven interceptions. Playing Madden doesn't make you a better NFL QB, and Petty didn't really improve during his time as the starter. The Jets should go back to Fitzpatrick as 2016 second-round pick Christian Hackenberg is unlikely to see the field this year.

SD - Kenneth Farrow placed on IR
Source: The San Diego Union-Tribune - Michael Gehlken

San Diego Chargers RB Kenneth Farrow (shoulder) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Dec. 26.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Farrow tried to come back in Week 16 after sustaining this injury, but he's just not had much success as the team's lead back. Melvin Gordon could return to the lineup in Week 17 against the Chiefs. Ronnie Hillman will get a larger role without Farrow taking snaps.

TEN - QB Matt Cassel officially named starter

    Source: TitansInsider.com - Terry McCormick

Tennessee Titans QB Matt Cassel was name the starter for Week 17 by head coach Mike Mularkey. Mularkey was noncommittal on QB Alex Tanney possibly playing.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Tanney is the best trick-shot QB in the league...seriously, look him up on YouTube. However, he doesn't have the experience that Cassel does. Cassel should be able to make the Texans defense a strong fantasy or DFS play in Week 17, but we seriously doubt his ability to move the offense with consistency or potency.

SF - RB Carlos Hyde won't need surgery

    Source: CSNBayArea.com - Matt Maiocco

San Francisco 49ers RB Carlos Hyde (knee) will not need surgery on his torn medial collateral ligament.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hyde has been banged up quite a bit during his pro career. Entering a contract season in 2017, he'll need to prove that he can stay healthy and produce. With Hyde done for the year, Shaun Draughn should be the top back in a RBBC with DuJuan Harris in the season finale against the Seahawks.

WAS - WR DeSean Jackson also day-to-day

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (jaw) is day-to-day, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Jackson played through this issue in Week 16, and his status for Week 17 is up in the air. We should know more about his availability on Wednesday.

WAS - TE Jordan Reed day-to-day

    Source: Redskins.com

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (shoulder) is day-to-day, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reed missed the game in Week 16 to get some much needed rest. He's likely to be doubtful for Week 17, but Reed may try to tough it out against the Giants.

DEN - No decision on Denver's QB

Source: The Denver Post - Lindsay Jones

Denver Broncos head coach Gary Kubiak has not yet decided who will start in Week 17 between QBs Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Siemian was downright awful against the Chiefs on Christmas night. The Broncos are out of the playoff picture, so they might as well play their first-round pick. The team needs to focus on the future, and that may be Lynch. It certainly doesn't look like Siemian will be anything more than a spot starter or career backup at best.

WAS - Rob Kelley had MRI

Source: The Washington Post - Master Tesfatsion

Washington Redskins RB Rob Kelley (knee) had an MRI on his injured knee Tuesday, Dec. 26, and is considered day-to-day.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's early, but Kelley may be sidelined for the season finale against the Giants. When he was banged up against the Bears, Mack Brown came in and had over 80 yards rushing and a touchdown on only eight carries. If Kelley is out, then Brown and Chris Thompson could work in a RBBC for Washington.

CIN - TE Tyler Eifert placed on IR

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (back) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Tuesday, Dec. 26.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Limited to eight games this year, Eifert finishes the season with 29 catches, 394 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Entering the final year of his contract in 2017, Eifert needs to prove that he can stay healthy and produce if he wants to get an extension with the team. Back injuries can be tricky to come back from, so watch Eifert's status entering OTAs this upcoming offseason.

JAX - WR Allen Robinson moved around in Week 16

    Source: Jaguars.com - John Oehser

Jacksonville Jaguars interim head coach Doug Marrone explained part of the reason WR Allen Robinson had so much success in Week 16 against the Tennessee Titans had to do with the team's focus on moving him around the formation more often.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Marrone was able to get a lot of production out of Robinson in Week 16. Robinson's 147 receiving yards was easily a season high for the young receiver. We should see the Jaguars employ a similar tactic for Robinson in Week 17.

KC - RB Spencer Ware could have returned Week 16

    Source: KCChiefs.com - B.J. Kissel

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (ribs) could have returned to the team's Week 16 win over the Denver Broncos, but the team chose to be cautious and hold him out.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs pounded the Broncos on the ground, and there was no need to bring Ware back into the contest. They are trying to win the AFC West, and they are certainly building for what they hope is a deep playoff run. Those prospects are greatly helped if Ware is healthy.

MIA - Miami unlikely to rest its starters

Source: The Miami Herald - Barry Jackson

Miami Dolphins head coach Adam Gase told reporters Monday, Dec. 26, his goal is to go '1-0 this week', implying he will not rest his starters in Week 17 versus the New England Patriots with a chance to improve the team's seeding in the NFL Playoffs.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

They may have to rest Jay Ajayi a little bit. The Dolphins are in the postseason, and they need Ajayi to lead the way on the ground if they want to advance. This week against the Patriots, Ajayi might be limited. Ajayi was favoring his left shoulder near the end of the team's Week 16 win over the Buffalo Bills.

NE - New England unlikely to rest starters

    Source: ESPNBoston.com - Mike Reiss

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick hinted he would not be resting his starters in Week 17, suggesting Tom Brady, LeGarrette Blount and Julian Edelman among others will play their full complement of snaps in Week 17 against the Miami Dolphins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Good news for fantasy owners still playing in Week 17. The Patriots have locked up a first-round bye, but they don't have the number one seed just yet. With something to play for, expect the Patriots to keep everyone's workload at a normal level in Week 17.
