TEN - WR Andre Johnson retiring

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Tennessee Titans WR Andre Johnson has announced his retirement Monday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Those 12 productive years he spent with the Houston Texans could get him into the Hall of Fame. At his best, Johnson was in fantasy owner's Hall of Fame because he was truly dominant. In 2008 and 2009 Johnson was the 2nd and 1st best fantasy receiver respectively. The last two years he's bounced around with the Colts and the Titans, but we'll all remember how he shined for the Texans.

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger expected to go

Source: CBSSports.com - Jason La Canfora

Updating previous reports, Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) is expected to play in Week 9 against the Baltimore Ravens.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Another sign that Roethlisberger was a "Weapon X" project. His ability to heal quickly is simply inhuman, and it's something most other players can't even dream of. It's early, but don't be shocked if we see Roethlisberger out there in Week 9 against the Steelers largest divisional foe.

DAL - QB Dak Prescott to start Week 9

    Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott will start in Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns, according to owner Jerry Jones.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Can you say QB1? We knew you could. Prescott can hurt you with his arm or his legs, and he's performing at a high level this year. In a game against the hapless Browns, the Cowboys should be able to do whatever they want.

GB - RB Knile Davis released

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Green Bay Packers RB Knile Davis was released Monday, Oct. 31, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs will now receive nothing in turn for trading Davis to the Packers for conditional picks. However, they could end up getting Davis back. Jamaal Charles is banged up and Spencer Ware suffered a concussion against the Colts in Week 8.

GB - WR Ty Montgomery out due to sickle cell trait

    Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky

Green Bay Packers WR Ty Montgomery (illness) said he did not play in Week 8 due to symptoms related to his sickle cell trait. The trait is not career-threatening, however, and Montgomery hopes to play in Week 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We know that Montgomery can catch 10 passes in any game he plays in with the Packers struggling to run the ball.

TEN - RB DeMarco Murray to be 'monitored'

    Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt

Tennessee Titans RB DeMarco Murray (toe) will be monitored throughout the week despite getting a favorable MRI result on the toe injury he suffered in a Week 8 win versus the Jacksonville Jaguars. Head coach Mike Mularkey told reporters he will issue a further update on Murray's status Wednesday, Nov. 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners need to be on watch here. If Murray can't play or is limited by this toe injury, then rookie Derrick Henry is in for a bump in his workload. Add Henry if he's on the waiver wire as he'd have RB1 upside with the starter's role in Tennessee.

TB - RB Jacquizz Rodgers has foot sprain

    Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Jacquizz Rodgers (foot) was spotted in a walking boot after being diagnosed with a sprained left foot Monday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Doug Martin (hamstring) needs to get healthy ASAP. Without Martin, the team would have to turn to RBs like Antone Smith or Peyton Barber now that Rodgers is banged up.

TB - RB Mike James back with Buccaneers

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Mike James re-signed Monday, Oct. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's a sign that Jacquizz Rodgers is going to miss time with his foot injury.

NO - RB Mark Ingram to remain involved

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Triplett

New Orleans Saints RB Mark Ingram will still have a 'key role' in the offense going forward, according to head coach Sean Payton.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll believe it when we see it. Ingram is in the doghouse, and Tim Hightower is going to earn more playing time after getting over 100 yards rushing against the Seahawks on Sunday.

KC - KC denies QB Alex Smith suffered concussion

    Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher

Kansas City Chiefs QB Alex Smith (head) reportedly did not suffer a concussion in a Week 8 win over the Indianapolis Colts, according to team trainer Rick Burkholder.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Smith did have to leave the game due to a head injury, and backup Nick Foles played well in his absence. Foles tossed two touchdowns and 223 yards in the team's victory over the Colts. At this time, it seems like the Chiefs are intent on Smith starting in Week 9.

NO - WR Michael Thomas drawing raves

Source: The New Orleans Times-Picayune - Josh Katzenstein

New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas played 61-of-76 snaps in a Week 8 win over the Seattle Seahawks, leading the team in playing time as well as receiving yardage (63).

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas is continuing to grow during his rookie year. As the season goes on, we could see him get even more targets. Thomas is at least a WR2/flex consideration for fantasy players every week.

NO - RB Tim Hightower earns more work

    Source: ESPN - Britt McHenry

New Orleans Saints RB Tim Hightower has earned more carries for the Week 9 game against the San Francisco 49ers, according to a source. The team plans to use a committee in the backfield.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mark Ingram has clearly fallen out of favor with the coaching staff, and his fumble against the Seahawks is not going to help. Hightower went over 100 yards and was able to perform like a workhorse with 26 carries. He should be a top priority on the waiver wire this week.

DAL - QB Tony Romo not ready

    Source: ESPNDallas.com - Todd Archer

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) won't be ready to play Week 9 against the Cleveland Browns, according to owner Jerry Jones. Romo is expected to do more in practice this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys have a nice setup here. They don't need to rush Romo back with the way that rookie Dak Prescott is playing. The Cowboys could be the best team in the league, and they have designs on making a deep postseason run in 2016. When Romo is actually ready to play, he may not be inserted as the starter again with the way Prescott is playing.

ATL - TE Austin Hooper will start

Source: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution - D. Orlando Ledbetter

Atlanta Falcons TE Austin Hooper will be the starting tight end in Week 9 with TE Jacob Tamme (shoulder) ruled out.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hooper should be able to get open as he does a good job of setting up routes. The rookie makes for an interesting TE2 play with upside if you're desperate for help at the position.

ATL - RB Tevin Coleman a game-time decision

    Source: ESPN.com - Vaughn McClure

Atlanta Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (hamstring) did not participate in practice Monday, Oct. 31, and will be a game-time decision for Week 9, according to head coach Dan Quinn.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Falcons may give Coleman a bit more rest as they have a short week. Hamstring injuries are known to linger if not given enough time to heal. If Coleman is down, it would lead to a larger role for Terron Ward.

BUF - RB LeSean McCoy progressing

    Source: ESPN.com - Mike Rodak

Buffalo Bills RB LeSean McCoy (hamstring) has made progress and head coach Rex Ryan hopes McCoy will be back to practice Thursday, Nov. 3.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
McCoy missed the game against the Patriots in Week 8, but he should be back soon. Hamstring injuries can linger if not treated properly. The Bills travel to play the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night in Week 9.

DEN - More tests for RB Devontae Booker

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos RB Devontae Booker (shoulder) is undergoing more tests for his injured shoulder Monday, Oct. 31. There is optimism that he will be fine, however.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Booker left the game briefly, but he was able to return. He scored a touchdown, but Booker only had 54 yards on 19 carries (2.8 YPC). Gary Kubiak stated the rushing game was 'non-existent' against the Chargers, and the team should work diligently to find a way to get Booker on track.

SD - WR Travis Benjamin seeking second opinion

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

San Diego Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (knee) will receive a second opinion on his posterior cruciate ligament sprain, according to a source. Benjamin has been dealing with the injury for weeks and its discomfort has continued.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Benjamin made one of the most athletic plays of Week 8 as he hauled in a TD grab by twisting in the air against tight coverage. We'll see what that second opinion reveals...but it could indicate that surgery is required.

DEN - QB Trevor Siemian critiqued

    Source: 9News.com - Mike Klis

Denver Broncos QB Trevor Siemian's decision-making wasn't as good in Week 8 as it had been, according to head coach Gary Kubiak.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Siemian did throw a pick-six against the Chargers, but there were four or five other passes that could've been picked off. With first-rounder Paxton Lynch right behind him on the depth chart, Siemian needs to improve or else potentially lose his job (if the Broncos are losing). Right now, it seems like Siemian is on solid ground even though he's not really lighting up the box score.

ARI - WR Larry Fitzgerald has ankle sprain

Source: FOX Sports Radio 910 - Mike Jurecki

Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald (ankle) suffered a low ankle sprain in Week 8. Head coach Bruce Arians said Fitzgerald could practice next week and should play in Week 10 following the Cardinals' bye.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Low is the key term there. Fitzgerald has plenty of time to get right, and we don't think he misses time due to this injury.

ARI - WR J.J. Nelson named a starter

Source: FOX Sports 910 Radio - Mike Jurecki

Arizona Cardinals WR JJ Nelson has 'become one of the starters at wide receiver', according to head coach Bruce Arians.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Message! Nelson is probably on a lot of waiver wires out there. The Cardinals can have a robust passing attack, especially if they start running the ball less. Nelson can put up WR3/flex numbers and should be on a roster after his two-touchdown performance against the Panthers in Week 8.

CLE - QB Cody Kessler also cleared

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Cleveland Browns QB Cody Kessler (concussion) has been cleared to return to practice this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kessler may be back in the starting lineup for the Browns. Monitor his practice status during the week.

CLE - WR Corey Coleman cleared to practice

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Cleveland Browns WR Corey Coleman (hand) has been cleared to return to practice this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The speedy rookie is a weapon, and he can take the top off the defense. Coleman has not played since late September while healing from a broken hand.

SEA - RB Thomas Rawls will not play Week 9

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls (fibula) has already been ruled out for Week 9 against the Buffalo Bills, according to head coach Pete Carroll, who stated he will wait until Rawls 'is fully healthy and ready to go' before activating him.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Seahawks aren't going to rush him into action with the group of RBs they have and the way starter Christine Michael is playing. Rawls should be back soon, but apparently we won't see him in Week 9.

CLE - OLB Jamie Collins headed to Cleveland in stunner

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New England Patriots LB Jamie Collins was traded to the Cleveland Browns on Monday, Oct. 31, in exchange for a compensatory third-round pick, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Collins was likely to leave this offseason via free agency, but this is still a curious move for the Patriots. There's more behind the scenes than anyone knows right now. The Browns should look to lock up Collins who is a huge upgrade for their defense.

PHI - RB Darren Sproles busy in Week 8
Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles played 63 of 81 offensive snaps Sunday, Oct. 30, against the Dallas Cowboys.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Sproles led the team in rushing with 86 yards on 15 carries, and he (of course) contributed as a receiver with five catches for 17 yards. Going forward, the Eagles may give Sproles a hefty workload as they're not getting much production from guys like Ryan Mathews or Wendell Smallwood.

CLE - WR Josh Gordon can be traded

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns WR Josh Gordon is allowed to be traded despite his indefinite suspension from the NFL. Gordon was released from an inpatient rehabilitation center Sunday, Oct. 30.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
If healthy and focused, Gordon can be a top receiver in the game still to this day. However, his off-field problems have not been fixed as of yet and we can't imagine a team giving up that much capital to get Gordon. At this point in his journey, Gordon just needs to get his life on track -- keep it on track -- then perhaps get back to football.
