I don't think anybody expected the NYG offense to be so conservative out of the gate. This is not a team that can rely on their defence to win games.

I agree a bit too conservative... but they are the pros and they watched tons of film. Honestly I think you have to credit the Vikings defense... they scared the bijesus out of the Giants gameplan and Eli. That seemed apparent to me.
