    Source: The Associated Press

Clearly not how Palmer wanted to end the year. But congrats on an excellent season.

DEN - Incentive kicks in for QB Peyton Manning

    Source: NFL.com - Ian Rapoport

Denver Broncos QB Peyton Manning earned a $2 million bonus with a 20-18 win over the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Manning took a $4 million pay cut before this season started. He could make that money back with an AFC Championship win ($2 million) and a Super Bowl win ($2 million). Manning is going to have a chance at a storybook ending to his career if he can win Super Bowl 50. He's obviously got a huge financial opportunity too.

NE - QB Tom Brady pressured in loss

    Source: ESPN Stats and Information

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady was hit a season-high 23 times in a 20-18 loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24. Entering the game, Brady hadn't been hit more than 12 times.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The amount of pressure Brady was under was simply astounding. The Broncos were not afraid of blitzing Brady even though he gets rid of the football quickly. Brady passed for over 300 yards in the losing effort.

DEN - RB C.J. Anderson runs well

    Source: The Associated Press

Denver Broncos RB C.J. Anderson finished with 16 carries for 72 yards and three catches for 18 yards in a 20-18 win over the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos are undefeated this year when Anderson gets 14 or more carries in a game. Ronnie Hillman may be the starter, but Anderson is clearly the better and more trusted back when the team needs to close out a game.

DEN - TE Owen Daniels scores twice

    Source: The Associated Press

Denver Broncos TE Owen Daniels had two catches for 33 yards and two touchdowns in a 20-18 win over the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Daniels started out hot for the Broncos. He only hauled in three catches overall, but two were for scores and he was doing a good job of getting open underneath.

NE - TE Rob Gronkowski big in loss

    Source: The Associated Press

New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski finished with eight catches for a game-high 144 yards and a touchdown in a 20-18 loss to the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship Game Sunday, Jan. 24.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Broncos struggle against the tight end position, and Gronkowski is arguably the best in the game at that spot. It's no surprise that he was able to come through for the Patriots.

TB - Todd Monken to be Bucs OC

    Source: Buccaneers.com

Southern Mississippi head coach Todd Monken has been hired by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to be their new offensive coordinator. Monken will also serve as the team's wide receivers coach.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Monken and new head coach Dirk Koetter spent four seasons together when they were with the Jaguars. In addition to helping turn Southern Mississippi's program around, Monken was also an offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State.

DAL - QB Tony Romo to be out a while

    Source: ESPN - Ed Werder

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (collarbone) is anticipating a six-to-eight week recovery from his eventual surgery date.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No big deal here. Romo is going to get the surgery he needs, then the team will ease him back into action. They can go far with Romo as their starter, but they have to find a better backup plan in case he goes down with another injury.

NFL - Paxton Lynch compared to QB Blake Bortles

    Source: ESPN

Former University of Memphis QB Paxton Lynch is being trained by former Univeristy of Central Florida offensive coordinator Charlie Taaffe, and Taaffe said Lynch has a stronger arm than Jacksonville Jaguars QB Blake Bortles, who played for Central Florida when Taaffe was the coordinator.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We could see that comparison. Lynch is big, strong and has the arm to make all the throws in the NFL. However, he needs to prove that he can make complicated reads after working in a simplistic Memphis offense in college that relied a lot on wide receiver screens and shorter routes. Lynch is likely a first-round pick, and there's a chance he's the first QB off the board.
