SEA - RB Fred Jackson will be third-down back

Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta

Seattle Seahawks RB Fred Jackson will continue to be the team's third-down back, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Keep this in mind if you're rushing to the waiver wire to replace Rawls. RBs DuJuan Harris and Bryce Brown are candidates to fill RB Thomas Rawls' (ankle) role in the running game.

CIN - QB Andy Dalton week-to-week

    Source: ESPN - Lindsay Patterson

Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton (thumb) is considered week-to-week and will wear a cast on his fractured throwing thumb, according to head coach Marvin Lewis.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The thumb injury won't require surgery, but most reports are that it could be a few weeks or more before we see Dalton back on the field for the Bengals. In the meantime, they'll turn to A.J. McCarron as their starter.

CAR - TE Greg Olsen, RB Jonathan Stewart are fine

Source: The Associated Press - Steve Reed

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (knee) and RB Jonathan Stewart (foot) are fine after undergoing precautionary MRIs Monday, Dec. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Panthers are on a roll as they remain the lone undefeated team in the NFL. We're likely to see both veterans get a bit of rest during the week of practice, but both should be available to play in Week 15.

TB - WR Vincent Jackson to miss some time

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Vincent Jackson (knee) will miss several games with a medial collateral ligament sprain. His availability depends on if the Buccaneers make the postseason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bad news for the veteran receiver here. Jackson's been banged up this year, but he's had a few good games. If his regular season is over, then Jackson will finish 2015 with 33 catches for 543 yards and three touchdowns.

IND - QB Matt Hasselbeck should start

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Indianapolis Colts QB Matt Hasselbeck (ribs, arm) should be healthy enough to start in Week 15, according to head coach Chuck Pagano.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're a little bit too early to feel confident that will be the case. Hasselbeck should be limited in practice this week. If he can't play, then Charlie Whitehurst might be the team's starter in Week 15. There's also an outside chance that Andrew Luck will be ready...but we're not counting on that.

DAL - QB Matt Cassel will start

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Dallas Cowboys QB Matt Cassel will start in Week 15, according to head coach Jason Garrett.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This is the choice you make when Brandon Weeden is your only viable option. Expect the passing-game struggles of the Cowboys to continue.

DEN - QB Brock Osweiler expected to start

Source: USA TODAY Sports - Lindsay H. Jones

Updating a previous report, Denver Broncos QB Brock Osweiler is still expected to start in Week 15 against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but head coach Gary Kubiak was reluctant to make the announcement Monday, Dec. 14, without knowing if QB Peyton Manning (foot) will practice this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The loss to the Raiders shouldn't be pegged on Osweiler. He wasn't helped by a poor offensive line and receivers dropping too many passes. Kubiak was set to meet with Manning Monday and talk to the team trainers before making a decision on Manning's status. Manning threw last week but hasn't practiced since before Nov. 15.

IND - QB Andrew Luck not 100%

Source: ESPN - Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter

Indianapolis Colts QB Andrew Luck (kidney) is hoping to practice this week but isn't 100% healthy yet. Luck maintains that he will play again this year, but the Colts didn't expect him to return in Week 15 against the Houston Texans as recently as last week. Indianapolis is handling Luck as carefully and cautiously as they can.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Doctors know that Luck can't risk raising his heart rate, which would pump more blood through his kidneys and delay the healing process. Luck is unable to run still, and the Colts don't have a specific timetable for how long he'll be out. It doesn't look like he's close to returning anytime soon.

CIN - QB A.J. McCarron starting in Week 15

    Source: NFL.com - Chase Goodbread

Cincinnati Bengals QB A.J. McCarron will receive the start in Week 15 against the San Francisco 49ers. He'll be trying to become the first Alabama quarterback to win an NFL start since 1987, when Jeff Rutledge beat the Philadelphia Eagles.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Alabama hasn't been a quarterback factory for the NFL. McCarron has a gunslinger mentality, and there's not a throw that he thinks he can't make. This confidence is a good and bad thing. McCarron will fire passes that he should have no business throwing, but he's giving his teammates a chance to make a play. It should be a wild ride with a daring and inexperienced quarterback like McCarron under center.

KC - RB Spencer Ware undergoes X-rays

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Kansas City Chiefs RB Spencer Ware (ribs) underwent X-rays on the injured ribs he suffered during the team's Week 14 game, but they came back negative.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rib injuries are always tricky to come back from as it essentially comes down to pain tolerance. Right now, Ware reportedly has bruised and swollen ribs and is dealing with pain.

NYJ - Coach hopes QB Ryan Fitzpatrick re-signs

Source: New York Daily News - Manish Mehta

New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles said he hopes that QB Ryan Fitzpatrick re-signs with the team this offseason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fitzpatrick should stick around so long as OC Chan Gailey is there. In two stops now (Bills, Jets), Gailey has gotten the best out of Fitzpatrick.

PIT - TE Heath Miller targeted often recently

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Pittsburgh Steelers TE Heath Miller has been targeted 42 times over his last five games.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The connection between Miller and Ben Roethlisberger is undeniable. Against the Broncos in Week 15 (a team historically weak against the tight end), Miller could have another solid day.

WAS - WR DeSean Jackson day-to-day

    Source: NFL.com

Washington Redskins WR DeSean Jackson (knee) is day-to-day with a patella contusion, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fantasy owners should have other plans in place. Jackson had a touchdown grab in three of the previous four games, but he only had two catches for 43 yards against the Bears in Week 14.

CLE - CB Joe Haden placed on IR

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Cleveland Browns CB Joe Haden (concussion) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Monday, Dec. 14, according to a source. He is out for the season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A rough way for Haden to end his season. He hadn't been on the field for the Browns since Week 5 due to this concussion. The good news is that he'll have plenty of time to heal before getting back in action next year during minicamp.

HOU - QB Brian Hoyer doubtful for Week 15

    Source: ESPN.com

Houston Texans QB Brian Hoyer (concussion, neck, wrist) is doubtful to play in Week 15 against the Indianapolis Colts after he suffered his second concussion of the season in Week 14, according to head coach Bill O'Brien.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hoyer was sacked five times against the New England Patriots on Sunday night. He suffered memory loss when he had a concussion against the Cincinnati Bengals Nov. 16. QB T.J. Yates is being prepared to start against the Colts.

BAL - QB Ryan Mallett joining Baltimore

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Free-agent QB Ryan Mallett (Texans) will be signing an undisclosed deal with the Baltimore Ravens Monday, Dec. 14, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mallett has a big arm but little control as a passer. The Ravens started Jimmy Clausen in Week 14 as Matt Schaub was banged up. We're unlikely to see Mallett see the field for the Ravens unless injuries further plague the position.

CLE - WR Brian Hartline to have surgery Tuesday
Source: The Cleveland Plain Dealer - Mary Kay Cabot
Updating a previous report, Cleveland Browns WR Brian Hartline (collarbone) will undergo surgery on his broken collarbone Tuesday, Dec. 15.
    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]
Bad news for a player who had been coming on over the last month of the season. On Sunday against the 49ers, Hartline had eight catches for 107 yards. He'll miss the rest of the season.
